I can only assume that despite many comments suggesting otherwise, a lot of Gooners on here are expecting citeeh to be sanctioned with losing points and/or relegation this season - otherwise I cant understand why so many believe that we will win the league this coming season :?

Threes an awful lot of trusting the process going on. As a disclaimer ill gladly eat all the humble pie available if we rock up with a league win, i'll judge them in May!

I don't think I'm alone in questioning many journalists' knowledge of the game, or consideration around the things they write. Rgrading his paragraph about Havertz....he suggests that he can be played as a false 9 (I fucking hate that daft notion) with Jesus ahead of him. So we'd drop Odegaard to facilitate that would we? Or perhaps tell Rice that he's playing alone in centre mid?!

Other than shoving Jesus out wide to replace either Saka or Martinelli, which would be retrograde, then only one of Havertz or Jesus can play. Neither will score anywhere near enough goals. Says it all earlier in this thread where people are predicting Saka as top scorer for the season.

BUY A FUCKING STRIKER!!

And I mean a quality striker, not a second rater.

He won't.
Don't want to upset the harmony in the squad :banghead:

Sounds like the last and worst of TOF's final years :banghead: :cussing:

We'll start the season with fucking Zinchenko, and then I'll have to go back on the meds
I'm still on them mate, but when slugchenko plays I double the dose and swallow them down with a triple Tequila.

'Ere, OB, send me your address and if we're ever about to start a game with Ramsdale, Zinchenko, Vieira, Havertz and Eddie in the line up, I'll phone an ambulance for you.

Just as well Xhaka has gone, or I'd be phoning the undertaker!!

:coffeespit: :coffeespit: :coffeespit:

:rubchin:

Actually okay, I'll PM you the details. :D
This is a proper quote tower :D

And I have DB levels of Clive hatred for the Slug :censored:

Time for a quick shot of bourbon to calm the tremors

City won't get sanctioned this season as they will challenge each and every charge and punishment.

I think they will get done eventually but it won't be this coming season and if we don't strengthen then top 4 can be a trophy, cos I don't expect Diet Pep to improve his woeful cup form either :banghead:

The initial punishments will be dished out this autumn, but because they have spent a shed ton on lawyers expect any appeal to go on for years.

Sell Eddie, get Gyokores which is close according to reports. Merino for the 6.

What do you know about Merino that we ought to get excited about Nutty?

I saw a couple of late substitute appearances for Spain, so have nothing to judge him on. A 28 year old that most of us have never heard of worries me a bit, as does his obvious failure to make a mark at Dortmund and Newcastle  .

Any reasons for optimism, other than blind faith?
We were 2 points away from winning the league last season? Had the best defence in the league, and we have strengthened the weak side ie left?

I am not creaming myself about Merino, but he was part of a very good Spain side that won the euros, he adds depth to midfield. We are due to sign one more offensive player as well. Who knows they might open the clip and get Gyokores.

Salah was a failure at Chelsea? So was De Bruyne?

Can I use lots of ???? to emphasise my point as you are???

Eh? Lots of question marks? Total of two in the appropriate places, following a question.

The question about “optimism” was clearly aimed at Merino, but I’m sure you knew that. I’d suggest that we ought to be signing players that you will “cream” yourself over, because we need a top quality centre mid, not another Wenger style journeyman.

The comparison with De Bruyne and Salah is flawed. De Bruyne was a clearly talented kid who wasn’t given a chance at a club who were buying every available name. He made the wise decision to move. Similarly, Salah was never given much of a chance at a dysfunctional club. He was quality at Basel and quality since leaving the chavs.

I know fuck all about Merino, but failing to make a mark at either Dortmund or Newcastle doesn’t inspire me with confidence. A 28 year old playing for Sociedad who no one had heard of pre the Euros where he got a few minutes.

I genuinely hope he turns out to be a world beater, but you baseing your optimism on the fact that De Bruyne and Salah “failed” at Chelsea doesn’t do much to reassure me.

De Bruyne left cos courtois was banging his bird behind his back - hard to stay in a dressing room when that story breaks

We're winning the league this year, any other position is not acceptable.

I must admit I haven’t paid much attention this summer but can someone explain to me how nearly half the people on here seriously think we might win the title this year

I am vaguely aware that I think we have bought a defender and sold ESR. We were not good enough to win anything last season, where we also had remarkable luck with injuries - so how on earth will the addition of a defender be good enough this season ???
