Same story for Nelson. I think he could offer something as a back up if given a chance. But he never does so we should have sold him last summer after he signed a contract to protect his therortical value when there was some buzz about him. His value has been sunk by last season like Eddie's and he will never get a proper chance (Eddie has had countless) so just flush him for whatever.

We hold onto players far to long

Sell early for decent money based on potential with a buy back clause and other future options. It's evident the manager doesn't actually rate these players amd wont make it with us but we hang on too long... and there value sinks yet we panic and give then big wages in the forlorn hope of protecting what value they have left. Foolish method.

On the off chance they come good we use the buy back clause.

Alternatively give them proper loans. Not lower league ones. But once we have given them big wages we are fucked.

Lolonga and tavares are actually decent examples. We signed them on modest wages for us i assume, they didn't do it, we give them top division loans, they still didn't do it, we fuck them off.
Lakongo and Tavares are still only out on loan so we could be stuck with them for a while yet-unless there is an obligation to buy for one/both of them?

Lazio have an obligation to buy Tavares if certain triggers are met, probably CL qualification I imagine?

Seville have an option to buy Lokonga for £10m and a 25% sell on fee I think

Looks like Zubimendi has blown out the Bindippers as well as us. The guy has no ambition whatsoever, just wants to stay at Sociedad!

Understand Arsenal remain in negotiations with Luton Town and Brighton over compensation fees for Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry | @Football_LDN

Club will also need to agree compensation with Chido Obi-Martin's new club, expected to be Man Utd

Tbf to him they are his home town club and are in champions league this season too - yes people might say that they have no chance of winning it, but then again do we ? A lot is made of the greed of modern day footballers (and rightly so), but this guy i s putting his family and his own happiness over wealth and I wont knock him for it

Am I the only one who just wants him flushed regardless of us signing a replacement?

We should have sold him last summer when his body of evidence wasn't disenhanced by his utter shiteness last year.

He had a bout 3 good games when after a new contract. Before and after he was utter gash. Just f off you lazy prick.
No mate, you're not alone in that thought. I've wanted him gone for ages and agree we should get rid for whatever we can get rather than than him drain the wages and be a useless c.unt around the place.

We're speaking about the feather here.

Not sure that Zubimendi was ever our target but he has beennthe hang up on signing Merino. Obviously Socieadad could not afford to lose them both . If Merino is to come then it should be easier now .

By all account Zubimendi was our number 1 target for long time but he made it clear that he wasnt interested so this summer the club never even made a bid and I'm ok with that - what concerns me though is that because of that initial interest in zubimendi, our interest in merino makes him look like second choice/back up. If you send scouts to look at zubimendi and they come away impressed with how he controlled the game, then doesnt it follow that you start to question if zubimendi's quality made those around him (specifically merino) look better, and will he be as good without zubimendi ? Merino's track record at geordies and dortmund doesnt paint a good picture of him imo, and at his age it isnt as if we can argue that he is still developing, so I would argue that especially in a centre midfield position we need a guy who can elevate our game instead of buying someone who mas maybe elevated by a better player at sociedad to look better than he is actually is :rubchin:

Nearly as hilarious as the scum fans hating their possible new signing Dominic Solanke before he even plays because he admitted he was an Arsenal fan as a kid.
