Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't googled this but as I remember the only transfer that came out of the blue for us was Ozil.
As I remember it came on the last day of the transfer window that AFC had put a bid in for Ozil which was a surprise to me. the rest is history.

Jose Antonio Reyes from Seville, it was as if he suddenly arrived at the Airport and there was TOF to Greet him... That was hilarious alright. One of the reporters at the presser where they introduced him as a new signing wrote that there was an audible intake of breath, a gasp, in the room when they all saw who it was the Arsenal had just signed.
