Bournemouth are set to drop their interest in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah provided Evanilson completes his move from Porto. Evanilson still needs to complete his medical. There is other PL interest in Nketiah. @MailSport

I’d take £50k from Ipswich, to be fair.

So as things stand, the signings we've made have been a bloke that's been playing for us for a year and an Italian defender, in which case I think it's fair to say that we've made only one addition to the squad. While no one is knocking the signing of Calafiori, the two glaring gaps in the team which needed addressing, are CF and CM. It's looking likely that Merino might be on his way to us, but forgive me for not turning cart wheels should that happen.

We've already missed the opportunity to get the necessary additions and bed them in pre season, but from tomorrow we'll have only two weeks to make the signings that we need. I now don't think we'll sign a striker (I've actually doubted it all along), but if we do sell Eddie (starting to doubt that too), then not only will we have failed to add the striker we need, but we'll actually have one striker less on the books.

Also, it's looking like we're keeping a string of players that I was fairly confident would be gone this summer....Partey, Vieira, Eddie, Ramsdale, Jesus, Zinchenko and Nelson. None of them are good enough for a club chasing top honours, but other than Eddie and maybe Nelson, the others look here to stay. Just think what that lot are costing us in wages each week.

We're being managed by a Wenger clone.

No doubt IF we sign merino the club and the cone boy will paint this as a successful window, but for me I would put it on course as one of the worst transfer windows we have had for years.

I'm not dissing Calafiori as a player for one second, but I am still wondering what position he was bought for - is he a centre back cos if so the glaring need at left full remains unsolved. The striker situation is a farce imo

The success of a transfer window is usually linked to the buying of players, but I would argue that getting rid of players that simply are not good enough was every bit as important as who we brought in, and yet here we are a the vast majority of the deadwood is still encamped at AFC  There are at least half a dozen players that need to be moved on so what purpose does it serve keeping them ? There were rumours (I know that it doesnt mean they are true) that there was interest in players like partey and ramsdale for example - has that interest dried up and if so is it cos we are looking for ridiculous money ? Personally I'd liken it to the southgate england euro 24 squad scenario - big nose picked players to be squad players who he need wouldnt upset the camp when they dont get minutes on the pitch, and I suspect the cone boy is happy to keep players in the club who wont shake the boat as long as their big wages are flowing in, and the cone boy values that loyalty and easy life rather than bring in real competition into the squad

Yes of course Arteta has no interest in winning, he prefers to have a team of players that he likes and enjoys the company of.

He has no winning mentality, playing for Rangers, PSV, Everton and Arsenal that takes nothing, just going through the motions.

Some talk like it’s so easy, blah blah blah and hey presto.

We'd probably have to bribe a pub team to take him.

And that would only be on a three-month loan.

If your last paragraph is accurate augie, then that makes Arteta as cowardly as the Old Fraud, because he operated on that principle. The other thing that Lego Head has in common with Wenger is to renew contracts of bit part players, who will clearly never be good enough to be first team regulars and to over inflate their wages. That means we can’t sell them when we want to, because no one else is daft enough to pay them that amount.

Whatever the reasons, failing to clear the deadwood is bonkers. Selling them for whatever we can get is better than haemorrhaging millions in wages next season.

Two weeks to buy a quality goalscorer….it ain’t happening.

Frustratingly predictable.
Shit players on high wages that no one (not even Bournemouth) will touch.
Quite correct. We have at least 6 that have to be moved on if we want to progress.
We have absolutely no chance of winning a significant trophy until we start acting like the big club we are in the transfer market (especially given the absolute gems that good old Metal Mikel has let go in recent times).
Tone is granted a bit dim but can certainly find the net and is surely keen to raise his profile at a club like Arsenal.
Watkins is a huge Arsenal fan who has declared his desire to play for the club.

Let's get something sorted quickly and truly go for it this year (in spite of our inept manager).
