I said prior to yesterday’s game that we’d get done reasonably comfortably at the scum, something like 2-0 or 3-1 and with Rice now missing, I’m more convinced.

Partey was fucking hopeless again yesterday and the idea of him and Jorginho in the middle of the park is terrifying.

I suppose we can always give ESR a start….oh, wait a minute……

Tbf rice wlhas been poor so far this season. Wasted on thr left. Had merino been fit I would be more confident. I can see a cornholing coming...

You just never know with the NLD. I've gone into them knowing we would win 3 nil and we've lost, and I've gone into them fearing a prison style raping and we've gone and won it comfortably!

On the surface you'd think Oirish Deckers would be a huge loss but as others have said his form has been poor since the end of last season, and the Euros did not help. Add to that Carpark-Foot Partey has looked utter gash for months and months now and if CliveChenko starts...... and I'm not confident tbh.

Obviously I'm hoping we wipe the floor with the middlesex scum but am afraid we won't. :|

As both I and Mc have said above, the idea of Partey and Jorginho in midfield against this lot is doomed to disaster.

Here’s an idea….we haven’t seen much of him, but I’d be tempted to put Calafiori in the middle of the park. He’s strong and looks quick, gets stuck in and doesn’t look bad on the ball.

I don’t usually like the idea of promoting defenders to midfield (I didn’t like it when Keown was used that way), because you usually sacrifice mobility and creativity, but we get neither of those things from Partey (total liability) or Jorginho. Also, we’ll need some power and dynamism to deal with Bissouma and Sarr and they’ll run roughshod over Jorginho. Timber, if fit, is an alternative, but I think Calafiori has the size and power to do a holding job, which is what we’ll need.

Ain’t gonna happen of course, but just throwing it out there to see what you fellas think.

Time for Nwareri or Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand
to come in and make himself an instant legend. :barscarf:

But seriously, we've seen a few times a youngster starting against us for their PL debut and then absolutely bossed it.

Just watching Spurs against Newcastle yesterday, they were wasteful and inevitably got sucker punched by a team they had on the ropes for a majority of the second half. The game ended in bizarre fashion after passing up several opportunities to float the ball into the box despite having several men forward. Must check betting patterns. Eventually it rolled out for a goal kick.
They are such a strange club. Different managers but same repeating pattern of play and they target the same profile of players. Half decent players with a limited ceiling who will never be elite, and they’ve just gone and spanked £65m on Solanke, another bang average striker.
Rice missing doesn’t help but If there’s one thing Temu Pep is good at, it’s setting up to frustrate the opposition. The historical trauma from going there and playing chaotic football for the amusement of SkySports and their paymasters ala Wenger is long banished. 0-0, 1-1 or we nick it 1-0.

Wasn't Petit a defender originally?

That might not be a bad call, Retro. Of course though, if Arteta hasn't thought of it, then it has no merit.
