That's a pretty sensible and balanced article. He plays down the idea of outright corruption, because he'd be finished without evidence, but at least it hangs in the air somewhat and he highlights incompetence.
Puts the dark arts bollocks in its place too.
Don't know the journo, is he a regular football writer for the Guardian?
The only thing that annoyed me about an otherwise pretty good article was that in his rush to lay dead the conspiracy theories he completely ignored the only reason most of us are up in arms about the prick referee: the fact he booked our player - for delaying the restart / kicking the ball away / whatever the fuck the PGMOL cûnts call it this week - and did not book their player for the exact same offence.
Or the fact that in the time between both Rice and Trossard getting second yellows for that offence, at least ten other PL players at other clubs have gotten away with it without picking up a yellow.

What the actual fuck
You simply could not make it up. We have been on the end of it for years. Even last season and this, how many times have we seen oppo players go down holding their heads to get our attacking play interrupted? But oh no, it started with us....

I fucking knew it and forgive me the immodesty of quoting myself, but this was part of my first post following Sunday’s game:
What I perhaps found most galling of all was the new fucking line about Arsenal and the "dark arts". Absolute bollocks. When this was being discussed after the game on Sky, I'm sitting thinking "What time wasting? When?" because the ball seemed to be almost constantly in play. Both our players that stayed down, Timber and Calafiori, did both get substituted, so they were hardly play acting. I didn't even think Raya was over excessive with taking time over re-starts, but listening to the pundits on Sky and on MOTD, you'd think we constantly stopping the game. The presenter on Sky did actually read out a stat from Opta that during the second half, the ball was in play for 35 mins, which was the most for any half in the PL (he didn't say whether that was for this weekend, this season, or ever), so that proves that we got away with fuck all. Of course, no fucker commented on that and they quickly moved on.
How many times have we played against sides that keep going down, especially the holding the head bollocks, constantly stopping the game and wasting time that the ref doesn't add on? When our players complain, the commentators simply say that the players are only doing what they're entitled to do and that we should stop crying about it. Never works the other way though. So now they'll be labelling us as the dark arts masters and that will be the new faux reason to hate the Arsenal. Of course, the refs will be onboard with it too, just as that fucker Oliver was demanding that both Timber and Calafiori get up and play on.
It was obvious from all the comments from City players and the media pundits immediately after the game that a narrative had been constructed and orchestrated. Absolute bullshit. More minutes with the ball in play during that second half WITHOUT added time, than any half in the PL this season. So where were the time wasting dark arts ffs?
The club need to nail this quickly and Arteta needs to hammer it home at his next press conference, because if this is allowed to fester, then every team will be screaming at the ref in every game we play and those clowns will be handing out yellow cards to our players like confetti.

Out of curiousity, are we now saying that our players DO NOT take the piss slowing up kick outs and going down with "injuries" ? It was discussed on here numerous times last season and the feelings expressed at the time was that we def have been taking the piss at times, so why are we getting all defensive on it now ?? All teams do it at times, and while I do think we do it more than most, I cant say that for sure cos I watch our games more than I do other teams. The slowing down kick outs started when ramsdale was first choice so that is telling you how long we have been doing it. There are times I am ok with us doing it, and there are times when I feel that we are too obvious about it and are inviting trouble on ourselves, but I'm not gonna go all scouse-like and play the victim card cos nasty people are highlighting something that we actually do
Yet I remember when TOF kicked a half-empty (plastic) bottle of water in his own dug-out and got sent to the stands...and was later charged & fined for "Violent Conduct"....
Funny what freebies to Dubai PGMOL and it's employees Free Rolex's and a mere £20k for reffing a single game can do for you isn't it.
