And why would sky feel the need to launch a defence such as this

“” He’s got that earpiece in, he’s got his phone out. What we understand he’s doing is he’s listening to a match feed of the VAR officials and their communication with the on-field officials, just as we do as broadcasters.

‘But he has no input and has no ability to talk to the officials who are actually making the decisions. Just to clear that up for you.’””

That last line doesn’t sit well with me, it’s as if we’re being lectured by our parents giving it loads with the “things you wouldn’t understand” line

It’s not quite when your explaining you losing but definitely in the realm of why mention it at all if there’s nothing to it

As I’ve said before about Oliver reffing games out in the UAE - even if there’s nothing untoward going on the optics are absolutely appalling.

Webb goes on Neville and Carragher’s podcast during the week, a big cosy sky love in. Carragher, as he’s prone to doing, just blurts out the tweet tonight after seeing Webb with the earpiece and phone getting involved with the VAR decision. He then quickly deletes it.

Why delete it unless he was instructed by someone to do so? Again even if there’s nothing untoward going on the optics are terrible here.

I’ve never seen Webb at a match before (open to correction if anyone else has). I’ve definitely never seen anyone involved with referees/PGMOL sitting in the stands at any game yet tonight we did.

And not only sitting in the stands watching/judging the performance of the officials but with full comms and audio of what’s being said and then during a vital decision that overrules the on-field decision has his phone out sending a message.

Yet again even if there’s nothing untoward going on and he’s just ordering a pizza for later the optics of that are once again appalling.

Why isn’t there someone from PGMOL sitting in the stands mic’s up at every game?

They feel so fucking untouchable that they’re willing to do that in plain sight. Incredible.

Just seeing it now on MOTD
I don't think it's a red card.

They've done some stupid graphic measuring White's distance from where the ball bounces but both Evanilson and White would have to go towards goal.

I think there's enough doubt there not to give a red. He had never even got control of the ball

Full match report from sky, not a mention of Webb and his activities.

You’d think that Webb being a possible influencer in the red card decision would be brought up by any decent journalist with some integrity.

But no, trust sky that all is well!!

Long live drogon tv, never give sky a penny!!!
Everything has been swept under the carpet.
Nothing to see here.

Webb is listening to the audio between the on field officials and VAR throughout. Then, during the biggest decision of the game when comms are ongoing between the ref and Stockley Park he pulls his phone out and sends a message.

Why would you even do that? To text the missus at home to tell her you’ll be late? To order a take away from the kebab shop on the way home?

Or to fucking get involved in the decision by communicating with the VAR?

Biggest moment of the game, only time in the 90 minutes VAR got involved and we’re to believe that during that moment he was playing candy crush and not actively participating in the decision.

Give me a fucking break.

THe bournemouth player who was pulled back was a yard offside .....FFS

how did that pass VAR???
That was my first thought when I saw the replay.
Not sure the send off would have made any difference today. We created fuck all !! 3 defensive midfielders and nuffink up front. Play like this and I'll settle for top 4. :barscarf: :barscarf:

I'm not going to focus on the sending off, out players are making fucking awful decisions almost every week and we're GIVING THE REFS Opportunity FFS :banghead:

The bigger issue is our terrible lack of creativity! Huge huge mistake from Arteta playing three defensive central midfielders against Bournemouth!! Sterling offers nothing. If we go into the Liverpool game with the same team (minus Saliba of course) we'll lose and the PL is gone. Just fucking play Declan and one other defensive player, put Nwaneri ahead of them for some flair and unpredictability. Martinelli has to start even if he can't hit a cows arse with a banjo.
That was such a crazy team to pick yesterday, fucking stupid.

Trossard played the ball back , had it been a forward pass he would have been offside .
I must say that I was shouting offside too until I realised it was Trossard that kicked it last.

What was the Martinelli goal against Everton ruled offside for last season? The Everton player played it back but didn’t they say he didn’t mean it or some shit as a means of disallowing it?

They made up a rule that day that has never existed before or been applied since. A bit like when the Burnley player handballed it twice in the box in ten seconds of each other a few years back or how pushing someone with two hands in the back at Newcastle last year was fine when it isn against us or how kicking the ball away only applies to us.

They make it up as they go along to cover their arses , however you can't be offside on a back pass and that was what they will hide behind.

Because the "squad" is paper thin. We don't have a squad as such, or not one that can win titles anyway. We have a team, and like any team we are susceptible to injuries. And when that inevitable happens, there are gaping holes in our first eleven, filled in with bit part players........and always without a proper striker.

The victims are probably going to end our title hopes next week. Making up 5 or 6 points has become damn near impossible these days.

2 things

1: Theo Walcott is not now, has never been and will never be an Arsenal Legend, to call him that devalues the legend title for those that have actually earned it.

2: I wouldn't be taking striking lessons from a twat who was essentially a fast runner with the odd goal thrown in, Walcott fluffed his lines more often than not and if it wasn't for Wongas myopic view of the world he wouldn't of had the starts he did. One look at Wally Walcotts goals per game of 0.2 tells you all you need to know.

Legend my hoop!!
