I couldn't and still can't work out what the plan was during the second half once Gabriel went off. He sticks Kiwior on and then do we have so little confidence in him that we have to sit back for the rest of the game? There just didn't seem to be a clear idea of how to change the momentum and put them under some pressure. It all felt very much like we'd gone back to any afternoon between about 2009 and 2018.
It also again highlighted the absolutely vital need to get someone in who can either put half-chances away, make a run into the box or hold the fucking thing up. Eleven v eleven, at home, there's no excuse for the confused lack of ambition for the last half an hour.
You could see it on kiwiors face as he was getting ready to come on, positively shitting himself. Even the arsenal staff had to give him hugs and tell him itll all be ok. The first team squad at arsenal is a joke, theres the bare bones basis of a squad there but way way too many players just not up to it.

If a new manager went in there half that squad would be gone. The press go on about arteta rebuilding arsenal. Wenger had shite players he insisted on sticking with and they eventually cost him his job. Arteta will be no different, there’s a long list in that first team that wouldn’t be playing in any of the so called top 6, so why are they playing for us???

Would have liked for them to have spent 5 minutes drawing lines on this like they did with our goal.

Image
I spotted it straight off but the offside law is so fucked up that a player receiving the ball after only one touch is not considered to be interfering with play

I don’t follow that. Would you mind explaining that with more detail please, because I’m not aware of it. These fucking rule changes drive me potty.
As the ball is played, Sarah is in an offside position.
But it is Nunez in an onside position who receives the ball.
When he quickly passes to Salah, Sarah is now onside and can score.
To me if a player scores a touch or two later, he was clearly involved in play originally and should therefore be declares offside.

Ah yes of course. I was sitting there reading all this late last night and completely forgot that it was Nunez and not Salah that got to the ball. That's what was confusing me.

Yes, that's a stupid rule and it's applied all too often. I think they refer to it as a the next "passage of play" or something, but as you say, this is another example of the rule being misapplied. It's too vague and being left up to the judgement of the officials on the day, it leads to more inconsistencies. The old off-side rule wasn't perfect, but it was straightforward and understood by everyone. That said, the not interfering with play was always part of it, but was largely sensibly applied. In yesterday's case, it would have been an obvious off-side.

Like some on here I am still Baffled as to what the game plan was for the second half. We were 2 - 1 up and rightfully so; had the Ref been Honest we'd have had a penalty for that ridiculous 2 man up-ending of Martinelli AND a goal from that chaotic chance at the very end, he allows play to continue after the challenge by Havertz(?) BUT as soon as it looked like we score he blows up.

It is things like that and their incessant changing of the rules week by week that are destroying my enjoyment of the game, to the point where although I still love and support my team, with the integrity and pleasure of the game in the Shitter, I'm just thinking Why Bother? Because Webb and his bitches will just do what they have been paid to do by the Betting Syndicates and other Interested Parties.

Okay so Gabrielle went off injured, with Kiwior coming on but that shouldn't had stopped us from sticking to the same game plan that we went by in the First Half... A plan that worked.

I've always been huge fan of Martinelli and despite his form falling off a cliff, believed he would come back to his former self, particularly after he scored those two recent goals, I hoped he'd get his Mojo back, but he is a shadow of his former self and we need to sell him before we have to pay him off.

Until the PGMOL are Investigated and Brought to Book, this will just continue. The fact we now have so many players on the continuing injury list(*) will just compound our falling out of contention.

(*)
Saka
Tierney
Tomiyatsu
Odegaard
Timber
Magalhães
And Calafiori

That is some fucking Serious Sick Note List!

A midfielder at right back, an 18year old at left back and the remaining first choice CB absent in the last 15minutes. I can’t think of any conceivable scenario where a team ends up with this makeshift defence against a close competitor and most teams including City would’ve lost.
Liverpool exploited our unsettled back 4 with root 1 football but even after this, we were a soft foul away from winning.
I think Arteta should’ve brought on the attacking subs earlier to help wrestle the momentum but these games are usually settled by 2goals which we had and should’ve held out.
On the goal itself, Kiwior tried to intercept the ball instead of dropping back and this created the space for Nunez. Lewis Skelly’s positioning wasn’t great but Kiwior started the poor chain of events.
He’s a squad player and that’s the best you’re going to get at this level unless you’re City.

The old "saw it and dealt with it" excuse that they've used for years to excuse their cheating and refusal to take action against their favourites. Never seems to happen when it's us, does it. If he's seen that and doesn't think that elbowing, kicking and throwing to the ground isn't at least a yellow then he's fucking incompetent and incapable of refereeing any level of football.

At least MOTD picked up on Taylor having already blown being the reason why that 3rd goal was disallowed but unfortunately he shouldn't have blown as there was no foul. I honestly think he detests us so much that he makes decisions in advance just in case a move develops in Arsenal's favour. A terrible ref, one of the worst. Matches are all about him.
On the other hand with Mikel in charge we are once again merely treading water latter stage Wenger style. Not clinical enough he said. Wow what a genius. This coming from the stubborn twat who refused to by the out and out striker that we all knew we needed. We will win nothing with this media savvy short sighted under achieving tactically inept twat in charge. Our nickname should be The One Dimensionals not The Gooners.
On another point I thought that Matinelli was unlucky not to be in the running for The Ballon D'Or tonight. If it were renamed (Couldn't hit) The Barn Door he would have walked it!!

Imagine in some alternate universe that same match was played in Anfield and an Arsenal player kicked out twice at one of their lot like Van Dijk did, one of their players was wiped out in the box like Martinelli was, Arsenal delayed the restart twice by kicking the ball away and Liverpool scored the late goal do you think the referee/VAR would have made the exact same decisions that they did last Sunday?

Nah me neither.

It's not just paranoia from us  Were playing against a stacked deck on a weekly basis ffs The interventions v Brighton then Cheaty and then Bournemouth put us on life support but the weekend just past put the final nail in  I've followed us since 79 and I can't remember a time when we've been fucked over as many times as we have these last few years  As you said before Rodders it's fucking exhausting watching it happen week after week..9 games in and weve been fisted (by the officials/Var) in almost half of those games so far  I say so far cos it'll happen plenty more in the coming weeks/months.
