Arsenal sporting director Edu has taken the decision to leave the club.

The sporting director has been away in Brazil on personal matters and arrived back late last week.

Sources have told Sky Sports News the Brazilian has been under consideration for a role with Evangelos Marinakis' group of clubs.

They currently include Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave - and, in the future, potentially a fourth club they are looking to buy in Europe.

It is unclear yet whether that is a reason Edu has made this decision.

Was going to create a new thread but I know DB would merge it lol . Lots of reports this morning Edu is leaving , falling out with Arteta or moved on due to poor transfer business and by whom ?

Deserves its own thread imo.

Personally I would fcuk edu and cone boy out on their ear now - transfer business has been a shambles
Agreed but you know DB would move it , Augie you would have sacked Arteta on day 1.

I have been critical of our transfer turnover for a long time, but it wasnt edu that brought in sterling, jesus and zinchenko, and it wasnt edu that squeezed smith-rowe out thats for sure
That's a yes then  , I feel the same about ESR as you know but I do think Nwaneri is going to be even better, shame they couldn't have played together.

I can only assume that he's leaving his current role so that we can sign him as a player in January. Can never have too many experienced midfielders, you know.

Offered a ball of cash by his billionaire buddy to look after his football club portfolio - grim.

I remember reading something about Edu being offered another job but had forgotten about it until today. Guess it must've been true all along.
Not sure if it's a big loss tbh. Who replaces him will be an interesting one.

If it means we stop buying shit and cast-offs from Cheaty and the Chavs, then this is a good thing.

But I think this is Diet Pep going full blown Lord Wenger and wanting control of everything. And that went well last time

Mikel Arteta to have a major say in how Arsenal replace Edu, who has been lined up for a job as chief executive of the Marinakis empire. Story with @JPercyTelegraph #afc #nffc

Going right back down the road we were on 15 years ago and giving far too much power to the manager.

I'm pretty sure those decisions are Arteta's Nick.

15 years ago we gave too much power to a manager who had a successful trophy laden history - this time we are giving too much power to a wannabe who has proven fcuk all

It does worry me more and more that we're seeing too many echoes of the 2008-18 debacle; strange transfers, stubborn tactics, no real preparation or change of plans for different opposition, the style of play, the failure to get in a proper goalscorer, the mission creep of power handed over to the manager in some sort of blind faith and the ever-increasing strange conviction amongst the owners and a large percentage of the supporters that we're right on the edge of winning everything and that we just need to keep trusting in the process/plans/ideology that is far too hard for any of the doubters to understand.

I see the sneaky media c.unts doing a breakdown of all the signings (positive and negative) made since edu rejoined the club, and they trying to claim that saliba is a positive one - saliba was signed before edu joined AFC and loaned back out to his french club, so they can fcuk right off trying to claim that as a successful edu signing

Btw, from what I see at a quick glance, since edu and the cone boy joined forces 5 years ago, we have signed 14 players that are no longer playing for AFC - that is absolutely fcuking criminal how much turnover in the squad there has been in short space of time

Rumours now abound... Apparently Arteta said besides a Midfielder his priority was for a Striker, but because the cost would be (at least) £70million and upwards, he was told by Edu who had discussed it with the Kroenke's' that that kind of money for a striker was unrealistic... Since then the once cordial relationship between Arteta and Edu has been strained...

Hopefully we can now get in someone who prioritises doing their job in the Summer instead of going Motor-Skiing
