Went to St Martins In The Field when I was in uni - One of the most memorable concerts was by The Sixteen (*) when they performed "Miserere Mei Deus"... Probably the most beautifully, haunting Choral work I have ever heard; especially Live, I still get goosebumps when I remember it now. I am anything but religious etc, but this is Something Else. When the Top Line hit that High 'C'... Phewwww!

New Album / CD by Steve Cropper & The Midnight Hour (With Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame)
If you like your Blues Raw and Sweet this just might be for you... Steve Cropper's voice is like Gravel & Honey and Billy Gibbon's Geetar & Fretwork is tinged with that ZZ Top sound. Brian May guests on one track. Recommended.
Posted on here a few times over the years regarding Marillion, imo one of the very greatest bands of the last 30 years.
Most will know the Misplaced Childhood album, in the Fish-era, which is still one of my top 5 all-time albums.
Post-Fish, with Steve Hogarth, they are lesser known maybe, but more appreciated by their devotees.
Their catalogue is littered with absolute gems, but a lot of debate over which is their best 'Hogarth' album. Marbles (the double) and Brave are great, and their latest 'An Hour Before it's Dark' has some brilliant moments, especially the last track, Care IV.
I have started listening again to F.E.A.R (Fuck Everybody and Run) which many fans regard as their best ever, and is definitely one of great prog rock albums. If you have time, give it a listen. Jammed full of melodies, great lyrics, stunning solos it really packs everything.

PS Changing the era completely, one of my fave ever songs with a wonderful guitar solo, Mountain's 'For Yasgur's Farm' is just so .... wonderful!!

I am very familiar with "Script for a Jesters Tear" (Top Album Title!) and"An Hour Before It's Dark" Both Excellent, I also like Fish's "Vigil In A Wilderness of Mirrors"... Hoarth is a really fine vocalist; better range etc than Fish, but his (Fish') lyrics etc are brilliant...
Don't know if you've seen it but this month's (Latest Edition) of PROG ROCK Magazine they have In-Depth Interview/s with Fish and how & why he has now quit the music business, but the questions and answers go back to the beginning with Marillion... Worth a Read.
Talking of Guitar Solo's outside of the usual etc...Andrew Latimer of Camel is so Underrated as a guitarist ... Worth a listen is "Summer Lightning"..
The Guitar Solo at the end is Beautifully Constructed....
