As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Just looks the type that will be involved at home. He’s not exactly Kyle Walker is he?
Straw man argument, nothing to do with Kyle Walker. He's a professional footballer, earning bundles to give baby Ode a privileged life, so keep his end of the bargain and reward the people paying his wages by giving no less than 100%.
Never heard such a daft argument. The whole world have babies, but most aren't in the position to consider not working to keep the family fed. Talk about 1st world problems....a phenomenally wealthy man, who can fund all sorts of support and care for his wife and baby, can't give his best at work. Hardly as though footballers don't get plenty of free time to be "involved at home". Luckily, I haven't heard any players come out with this bollocks, so let's hope it's just you.
He’s clearly on top form pal. Just can’t stop scoring and assisting since becoming a father. Must be up for the Ballon D’Or. You are right. I am wrong.
Nice wumming. A player is not performing, so it must be because he's a new dad.
Partey must have have knocked out a whole first eleven given the way he's been performing the last 2 or 3 seasons. How about Martinelli, kids??
Not as though we haven't seen Odegaard off form previously is it? Of all the excuses for a bloke being off form, that's hilarious if nothing else. I sincerely hope it's not true, because as excuses go, it's unacceptable.
Wumming? Suggesting a reason for someone playing poorly recently is wumming?
Wumming is your straw man bollocks.
You: He's had a kid so it's affected his form.
Me: No, I don't buy that...how would you possibly know that for starters and it isn't acceptable even if true.
You: So you think he's been playing on top form then?
That's a classic straw man argument right there. Perfectly fair to call it wumming. You misrepresent what people say the whole time with bad faith arguments. Five to Limerick indeed.

What are you talking about? What’s Five to Limerick? You sound pretty angry about something. Also sense you think a lot of yourself.

No, not angry at all mate, just no fan of bad faith arguments and wumming.
As for thinking a lot of myself, I think that's what they call projection.
You're pretty new here and as entitled to your opinion as anyone, but you've clashed with one or two already and the deliberate misrepresentation of people's opinions won't go down well.
interestingly, as free as you are with your opinions, you body swerved the question about how long you'd be prepared to give Arteta if we continue trophyless. Just to reiterate, not whether he'll be safe as long as he makes top 4, but how long YOU think he should continue with no trophy success?

Not sure I am misrepresenting anyone deliberately. Genuinely not.
My view on Arteta is this. I reckon the first couple of years was the rebuild. 2022/23 was beyond expectation and then we bottled it due to a combination of injury to Saliba and then key imbeciles costing us. Partey and Xhaka two prime culprits. Last season we improved again and I don’t lay any blame at his door for a title run in where we won 14, lost one and drew one from the turn of the year. The Scousers bottled it. We didn’t. The title was lost at Christmas when we lost to Fulham and West Ham. I don’t really see a late 80s points total as a failing by Arteta. City were a machine again.
Moving to this season I feel we have gone in to the season completely ill equipped in the front line. He flogs the same first 11 to pieces and they then get injured. We shipped out some crap pre season but didn’t use the funds to upgrade. We are short in the wings, striker and playmaker. However I would say this is the first season he has really failed. If he does the same next season then he is out. I do think this season we are not out of it and I think we have been robbed by referees at least twice. Both matches against Brighton ironically. 4 extra points and we would be right in it and there would be nowhere near the angst you get on here.

Ok brother, best post you've made on here imo. I wouldn't argue with much of that at all. The failure to buy a quality striker and to bring in both Jesus and Havertz are criminal decisions imo and I'm certain we'd have achieved more trophy wise, if he'd bought the CF we've desperately needed since day one. For that reason, he only gets to the end of this season in my book, but I can understand why you'd allow him one more year.
The angst on here is because so many of us can see what we needed, but Arteta seems to have the stubborn streak that Wenger had and refuses to accept where he got it wrong. After a bellyful of the Old Fraud, no one is ready for any more and if Arteta is going to ignore what's staring everyone in the face, then he better not regress, which is exactly what he's done this season. Regardless of points, the team this season is playing nowhere near as well as the previous two terms. That tests patience and puts him on thin ice with many.
He needs to start delivering tangible success, but many will accept one more season.

Our style of play has regressed because he is trying to make us hard to beat. We ARE hard to beat. However we don’t have enough goals in the side and we end up in torturous chess matches which can then be decided by refereeing disasterclasses. Jesus should have been moved on in the Summer and we should have a genuine goalscorer at the Club. We are also light another world class winger. Merino is a strange buy but I sense he is someone that will come on next season. I think we went for forward players but decided to stick with what we had when they couldn’t be landed. Sesko being well documented. That was always suicide considering the fact we are in 4 trophies. Any injury to anyone in the front line and we were light. No idea if this is partly why Edu went. Was it a lack of funds? Was it Arteta only willing to sign key targets or no one. I don’t really know.
I think 4th is best we can hope for now - dont know if I even want that
It saved Wenger for far too long so if we don't win it (and we won't) then best have the full on meltdown and finish 5th or 6th
My concern is that it would see saliba and maybe gabriel head out the door - I believe that the players we will want to keep will stay if we appoint a good manager to replace this fraud, but being out of champions league would allow madrid to unsettle them and we would lose one or both

I said a while back that just qualifying for the CL and never doing anything in it won't be enough for players when they reach their peak. It might be fine when they're 21 but we have international players now rubbing shoulders with international team mates playing for Madrid, Man City and others. If Madrid want Saliba, and he wants them, it won't matter if we finish 2nd or 10th. Just like finishing 4th wasn't enough for Cesc, Van Persie and many others when we had that old fuckbag in charge. I think this is the season where the penny will drop for the likes of Saliba that he'll need to move to win anything. If he stays for "the project" he'll win fuck all

Yep, made this exact point on the match thread last night. Fully expect Saliba to go to Madrid this coming summer. They'll want him and he'll want them. Never mind, is Cygan still playing?

His head has turned already
I think it has too,he's not been totally on it lately
For certain something has happened to Saliba, he seems to have become "Gash" and "Unreliable" these past 4 games or so....Considering that even if everyone else was shyte, you could rely on him to turn in a regular 8 - 9 out of 10.
edit:
I think we can still get 3rd or maybe even 2nd if we're lucky and the Chavs fall away and Cheaty don't continue to improve. BUT we will NOT win any Trophies that's a certainty.
