ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

General , had we been in for Chris Wood at the beginning of the season this forum would have been in meltdown , not good enough for The Arsenal !

He isnt good enough - we may as well try to coax niall quinn out of retirement or whoever the modern day target man is

Thé problem is, we DO have a long term transfer strategy and that is the issue!!!
Arteta really wants Sesko, 21 yo, could be a future great, might not be as well. But it feels like all the eggs are in the Sesko basket so we don't want to spend much on another striker (that we do actually need)!!
Arsenal actually have no short term strategy, no vision that says we could actually won something this season if we sign a striker and a winger now.
In the summer, whatever we offer for Sesko, Chelsea will bid 20m more, because that's what they do and then we are really fucked!

If the fool believes that sesko is the answer (I certainly dont), then he should have bought him last summer

He tried Augie but Sesko wanted one more year at Leipzig for his development.

We're gonna get Watkins and pay too much - 60-65m.
Rashford on his way to Villa, said his goodbyes today supposedly. Villa also trying to sign a young striker from Nice this weekend.
They are preparing for Watkins to go.
Villa are fucked by PSR if they don't sell again.

If they sell Duran and Watkins and replace them with Rashford and some kid from Nice, they've effectively given up on the season. If you were a fan, you'd be outraged

Thankfully they're a bunch of c.unts so I'd love it to happen :D

We'll offer more money.
Back to where we were for a decade between 2008 and 2018. No fucking strategy, no vision, no forward planning, no ability to mitigate for injuries or plan for any issues that might get in the way of a player not being available, some fucking deluded idea that we can just pick up the phone and get the one player we want out of all the fucking players in the world. Fucking naïve, negligent mis-management. Trying to get by with a wafer-thin squad of bang average-poor strikers and then wondering why people might start to get frustrated when they don't see you addressing the fucking problems week after week, month after month and year after fucking year. This whole fucking season seems to be based around getting some fucking bloke out of Leipzing in the summer so what's the point of doing anything else? He won't fucking come. He'll go to Bayern Munich for the same money. What the fucking hell is going on and why is the fucking owner and that son of his who apparently cares about the club putting up with this. Fucking get him out now.

Apparently it's not serious enough for us. Now, if he had a broken back we'd definitely be back for a loan deal

NOBODY IS COMING

:barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
Who does Nobody play for? I’m excited to see him. :barscarf:
He's related to the Nobody brothers we signed back in 2010. Arsene has been advising on the deal and he comes highly recommended. Super super top quality, didn't cost 50m (sorry) and available on the internal market

It's looking more and more like the Watkins offer was the old Arsenal trick that we've seen many times before of making an unacceptable offer for a decent player just so you can say 'we tried' and the media doesn't pan you for no signings. The only other explanation is that Arteta is trying the other old Wenger method of trying to get someone in the final 30 mins of the window because clubs will be desperate to sell.........NOT!

AC Milan about to buy Gimenez from Feyenoord, Marmoush already at City, Malen to Villa, Rashford to Villa, Ferguson to West Ham, Muani to Juve, Xavi Simons to Leipzig........ Just a few names who could have helped Arsenal, even as number 2 strikers/wingers....... But for our club, not one player who could improve Arsenal was available evidently   :banghead:

If as I expect helmet hair signs not a single player this window, then that for me is us giving up on this season..Sure we may limp into to Top4 with our current lot but we will exit the big lugs at the last 16/8 stage and that will be that.Maybe el beige thinks we can shitehouse our way through in Europe as we are decent defensively :rubchin: who knows..but when we bump into a team with pedigree out we will go.

Yep. If he thinks we're going to win anything with the goalscoring options we have then he's deluded and incapable of managing the club and moving us any further forward. If he thinks this is all OK, then he needs to be fucked off out the door right now.
There's no middle ground here, either we've been incredibly unlucky with players not signing for us for a few very precise and impossible to overcome reasons or he's been negligent and failed to identify any players that we need. If it's the first option, then just come our and say it and if it's the second, he can clear his fucking desk and fuck off tonight.

Is it possible since we've hired a novice manager who would fail a basic football management test, we may also have hired a similar profile figure to do the transfer dealings.

As far as I’m aware, just like Legohead put out the cones for pep, Jason ayto spent most of his time making sure edu had a cold drink and ink in his pen.

Why as a club do we insist on hiring very obviously under qualified people for roles that demand experience.
