Yeah, this should now really be treated as a 'rest up' exercise for all those expected to start in Madrid

One would expect to see White, Zinchenko, Jorginho, Trossard, Nwaneri and Sterling all back in the starting line up as a minimum. The issue is what to do with those who have had a very heavy match load and don't have great replacement options. I mean who goes to CB if we don't want to play Saliba, Kiwior or Timber? Who replaces Rice? Who comes in for Merino up top? Some tough decisions to be made. Presume Calafiori is still out? White at CB and play Tierney as a RB?

I suspect unfortunately that we will be treading on eggshells hoping Saliba, Rice, Merino, Raya etc don't get injuries in this as they are crucial for next week. I'm automatically presuming Saka won't play but ofc the same goes for him

Hopefully we can get a scruffy old win just to keep the distance between us and what sits below

After last night it’s hard to care about this game. We’ve got bigger fish to fry and if we were to play 11 stiffs and lose this, I wouldn’t give a damn.

Not sure what options are available, but if possible I’d rest all those that started last night, including Raya. I suppose one of the centre mids would have to play alongside Jorginho, in which case I’d play Merino.

White, Tierney and Zinchenko at the back, with hopefully a fit Calafiori. Other than Zinchenko, the other 3 are able to play either CB or FB.

Nwaneri and Trossard on the wings and Havertz up front on crutches….no one would tell the difference.

Well the Title is Gone, so hopefully those who have been warming the bench more than playing will get their chance to play.

Brentford are a very decent side, so even allowing for Last Nights Superb Result and the Resulting Tiredness (and a bit of the Come Down / Anti-Climax that can follow such a Epic Night) We can still beat these. But next weeks 2nd Leg is Far More Important. Especially as they will be going All Out for revenge after being shown up; in other words Mbappe the mutant looking turtle and vicious Jnr will be diving left, right and Centre, so we badly need a Strong Ref who takes no Spanish I've Been Shot Shit.

Also, I hope both Saka and Twice Rice Baby (©OBG  ) are okay after going off with injuries.

It's hard to even take this game seriously now!

I'd agree with resting the key players. I've always said I don't give too much of a fuck about the CL since it became a league full of non-champions and with the chav cheapening it by buying it, but it's an itch we should have scratched a long time ago as a huge club. He has to put everything into winning it.

I was ridiculed and mocked on here a couple weeks ago when I said I had a weird feeling based on nothing that we might win it, that's all, just a weird feeling. I still have that weird feeling....

Play three false 9's up front and confuse them & 7 at the back !. Doesn't matter who plays so play the youth team. :barscarf: :barscarf:
