I was given a gift of a club level package for my 60th birthday by my family. It was the Newcastle game last year. Great tickets but a rip off in terms of value for money. They throw in a drinks & food voucher and that makes it legitimate apparently.
I emailed the club asking why this company are allowed charge what they like for these packages. As in doubling or trebling prices for certain games. Their answer was basically that these companies serve a need for overseas supporters who have no access to tickets. The company owns the tickets so they can do what the like with them.
But if those overseas supporters bought a ticket on the street they could face prosecution. Or if a supporter attempted to sell a ticket they would also face prosecution.
The premier league clubs should stop pandering to them.
Cant they just watch football in their own countries?
It’s bad enough supporters travelling all over the country to watch a team, but I have very little time for anyone flying around the world to watch us. There needs to be local identity, otherwise we might as well just play our league matches all around the world at different venues.![]()
What's "local identity" Rob? Were you born in N5? Have you lived there your whole life? How far out does "local" stretch in your mind? Highbury? Islington? Holloway? Just as far as your street or house?![]()

Basically I’m just pushing back against the tourists who are “flying” into the country for matches. There has been an increasing number in recent years, and I do think it
A) has made it harder for people living here to get a ticket
B) has made those tickets more expensive
Ideally the club has the vast majority of its supporters living in north London, but I agree those days are long gone.
Although I live in London, I appreciate that a lot of our committed and loyal supporters live far away from the capital. That’s fair enough, it’s those living abroad I’m aiming criticism at. If the trend continues, then overseas league matches will become inevitable. Why upgrade the Emirates - might as well just play in different stadiums around the world.

There are many of us born and bred in the North London area that due mainly to finance live some distance away . In the sixties I played football for a team based around Kentish Town . we had two teams and reserves , to my knowledge none of us live in London anymore.
Re: Getting tickets
well you know, for the oirish contingent...we're most definitely abroad in the traditional sense, im just hoping that our one time subscription to the British empire in the past gets us a pass for all of us to be you know....."proper" fans.OneBardGooner wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 4:22 pmQue!?xgtdec wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 3:07 pmouch....eh......does once belonging to the empire count as not being abroad?Gunner Rob wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 2:45 pmOk I anticipated some negative reaction, as I appreciate that this was a bit of a provocative postDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 2:34 pmReminds me of a post we had on here years ago from some little wánker giving it the big one about only following your "local club". Not born in Laaahdan But I lived in N5 from the age of 7yrs to when I was 12yrs old (*); which is when I became a Gooner ... I lived with my Great Aunt (Lily) A right Character and a Life Long Arsenal Supporter, along with my Great Uncle Ted who did occasional repairs at Highbury (He was a Mechanic & a Welder and a Gooner) - He used to also do repairs for the players on their Cars so I got to go to games Free (with him) and was able to meet some of the players. (*) My Dad was a 'Trainer' in the Military and so we moved around a Lot, those 5 years were longest we stayed in any one place.A11M11 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 10:20 pmThere are many of us born and bred in the North London area that due mainly to finance live some distance away . I went back to Laaahdan to do my Degree 7 years later, after a Gap Year... and continue supporting THE Arsenal.

Do I consider myself a (Proper) Gooner... Too fuckin' Right I Do.

To an extent I agree with rob. Popcorn munching hysteric fans with there AW posters more interested in taking selfies.
And I know it's harsh but I so so struggle with our US fans enthusiasm genuine as it may be as it just seems so artificial...maybe it's the accent. I work with loads of yanks and love em mostly but I cannot take them seriously when discussing soccer ball even if they are more knowledgeable and better playing it than me.
What I'm not sure in in robs post is if he limps our oirish brothers as abroad...I don't. Really we all know we are the UK you guys just taking a wee break
we have fought together for years and have a kinship.
We share the same values pretty much and life is very similar in Ireland to UK as understand it and we don't have the difference even in other anglosphere countries have.
And our Irish support has a long and proud history, as it does in other clubs too. In fact all the home nations or what were the home nations I have 0 issue with as fans as before the influx of actual foreign players most clubs had a good mix of UK/Ireland players so people supported them and their associated club. Add to that the domestic leagues bar the jocks( till last 30 years) have been weak, low standard so it's natural to support a bigger/better club in your cousin's place across the sea.
I'm a Colchester fan as there most local and used to go a fair bit before they moved stadia, but have always supported arsenal due to family as well. I like to see colu do well but doesn't bother me at all
Now it seems more touristy, bandwagon jumping, the thing to be seen to do to be an actual os fan. That's what I think Rob is beefing at and to am extent I agree.

I admit it seemed strange at the time because Leyton has no record of being a twat on here and I'd rate him as a decent poster. I'll certainly give him the benefit of the doubt.

Oireland and Ingerland/UK are very similar countries in a lot of ways - probably down to the 800 years of invasion and genocide you lot committed over here!the playing mantis wrote: ↑Fri Apr 18, 2025 1:34 pmTo an extent I agree with rob. In all seriousness though, most of us have family in the UK and our best players always went to the UK as the Oirish league is utter shit and always has been.
