Sesko was the NINTH top scorer in the bundesliga this year with only 13 goals.
Harry Kane got 26.

Mika Biereth scored 24 league goals this season and had the best goals/shots ratio in all of Europe this season. Surely he should have got at least a chance with us.

Harmoush scored more than Sesko and he left in January!!

If he can't score goals in the Bundesliga, how will he do it in the PL!
Yes Gyokeres isn't tested in the PL, but he was 5 clear of anyone else in all of the European leagues and he scored 42 non-penalty goals across all competitions.

Agreed Thynker.

Seems to me that one or all of the following apply:

1. Arteta has always wanted Sesko and this is his choice. Tbh, that’s how I think it should be, it’s the manager’s team and he should have the final say on players. As long, of course, as it’s his head on the block if it doesn’t work out.

2. If we sign Sesko, then Lego Head will be under less pressure to automatically bench his boy Havertz.

3. Chelsea have blown us out of the water financially.
It's as simple as this. If arteta/berta/kronke don't get goykares. Then arteta must be sacked immediately as he is the only player that can save our 25/26 season....we don't get him we end up 5th. He absolutely guarantees 30 goals a season so whoever he signs for defaqto wins the league

Out of curiosity Isak joined Newcastle, not the finished article at the time, but we're writing off Sesko cos he's not the finished article.

I'm not advocating for Sesko but where's the difference
Exactly what I was trying to point out.

Well, firstly, having seen both, one moved with the fluidity of an athlete, while one less so. It’s also possible to see clear potential, even if it’s not ultimately realised. With others, the limitations appear more obvious than the potential. No guarantees, but no way do I see Sesko developing into an Isak.

Secondly, we haven’t got time to wait for potential to develop. If we sign a striker with possible potential, then bang goes another 2-3 years while we wait and see. It’s time that we acted like the big club we claim to be and buy the finished article.
Retro not digging you out ,but how familiar were you with Isak b4 he joined Newcastle .We can look at all YouTube stuff etc and be wise after the fact ,and we all know no matter who we sign striker wise ,Havertz is an Arteta fav

That’s a fair point Mc and you’re not digging me out. You’re right to pull me up about it. Cards on the table, I knew fuck all about Isak when he was at Sociedad, but as soon as he turned up at Newcastle, you could see he had a natural ability and moved like a quality player. That’s not always a guarantee, but it’s a positive indicator and from the little I’ve seen of Sesko, I didn’t get a positive vibe. The opposite in fact.

I remember when we signed Henry after his bad time at Juve and it was something like 10 or 12 weeks before he scored. It was clear that he had talent and movement but he kept fucking up in front of goal, including missing one on ones…I can recall a particular one at Highbury. My brother and I had season tickets together back then and we’d been saying that he had everything, but needed to finish. After that missed one on one, my brother looked at me and said “He seems to have it all, but is he gonna turn out to be a dud?”. Well, we know how that turned out after his first goal at Southampton. The talent was always clearly there.

My long winded point is that even without guarantees, if you have a fair grip on the game, you can see talent and potential. I’ll admit to not having seen much of Sesko, but from what I have seen, he lacked both. Isak, as soon as I saw him, looked like a player.

Thynker says on the previous page that Sesko is “the new Havertz” and that's my fear.
Yes on TH14 early days got himself in scoring positions and flushed his lines but had been bought as a wide player and AW was converting him into playing through the middle a master stroke,

Even prior under Rioch's one season Dennis was signed for 7.5m a sign we were serious again and added in Platt who was also a signing that though didn't quite become what we wanted was another big signing. Arsenal were back, Dennis also struggled early doors, but you could see his quality and vision.

I was there 4-2 home game against Southampton, Bergkamp scored two bangers and the rest is history.

We simply have to make the correct signings that add scoring and quality to our attack, may take any signing a while to settle but we need them to fire 25/6. I read sometimes about how long it took Henry, Bergkamp to settle it's spoken like it was almost a full season, both after 2 to 3 months started to show what great signings they would be,

Also if IF Arteta does Sign Sesko (for what is ridiculous Money) Having spent such a Big Chunk of the Transfer Kitty it means that he doesn't have to sign anyone else and he can then shrug his shoulders and Make That his excuse for failing (yet again). Sneaky Arrogant Fucker. :banghead:

Half of Gyokeres’ goals are penalties.

Regardless of Sesko, we should test Villa’s resolve for Watkins.

Despite the fact we need a starting striker, we also need a strong bench.

Watkins off the bench with a big game at 0-0 is tasty.

Guaranteed 30 goals against the likes of FC Chicken Nugget and Inter Fanny Bulge in the goat herders league presumably.

Even Sterling would get 20.

I fear Arteta only wants Sesko for his height to help with set pieces

Isak's best was 17 goals in 44 games before moving to tyneside.

Hasn’t he got 53 in all comps? So you are agreeing with me. Thanks.
