It was literally so that the tv channels could get around the Irish government ban (since 1971) and the UK government ban (1988) on the sinn fein scum defending the murdering IRA filth on public broadcasting channels.

as a youngster growing up in that time (born 1961) I only had our press to go by
I still don't understand it and looks to me its people re running battles fought centuries ago (same as the Scots with their independence etc)
it seems a shame that some people live there whole life with hatred for people they don't even know
as seen from last week life is short
