Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
This really must be the most depressing forum in the whole of the world.
Its almost like mosthere want us to fail so they can blame Arteta (the basque , cone boy etc) but no manager is blameless. Would you rather we were in the manure / spuds position ? You know it isnt all bad. Fingers crossed we will get a striker in. We all know the squad needs more depth especially after losing Jorginho and Partey (who was universally slated here). These players have been replaced by better options.
As for Nwaneri , one the rumours might just be rumours and too you don't know what his demands are.
7 more weeks of the transfer windown (yes ffs) to go.
But the way i see it , get the striker in then we are in a much better situation than last season.

We could have had already Gyokeres done and dusted and then used this transfer money (plus extra) on a player like Rodrygo as a statement to Saliba and Saka who might be thinking seriously about their futures soon that this club means business.
Missed opportunity in a crucial summer for the club imho.
looks like Nwaneri will be on his way....cant blame him....best prospect we had for years ....since Martinelli came on the scene and arteta fucked him up

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
We've signed a lot of chav rejects over the years, but - Havertz excepted - we haven't paid that much for them so when they have turned out to be duds so 'you get what you pay for' applies. But Madueke would be very different: we would be paying 50 million(!) for a fringe player that has never been a consistently regular starter for them, unlike most of those we have taken in the past (Gallas, Cech, Sideshow Bob, Willian, Jorginho, Havertz...) They really can't believe their luck.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
who is suggesting that....i believe he fucked up Martinelli by engaging the tactics he has......Martinelli played in the right system where the ball is moved quickly so he can break is extremely dangerous, he was terrific a few years ago when we were beating teams with superb attacking football....no mention of Nwaneri who i believe is a very good prospect and one for the future.....EC1 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:47 amThis drivel about Arteta fucking Nwaneri up is complete nonsense.Red Army 2 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:21 amIts incredible mis management...Natural Born Gooner wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 10:03 amSpunking £50 plus million on this Chelsea reject is such a loser mentality.

How many do you want him to play? 50-60?
He was a sub for most of the U21 Euro competition, suppose that manager is useless also.
Arteta has put a lot of trust in Nwaneri and the player has a HUGE future at the club.

The twat should have gone 18 months ago. End of August and it will all be going off again properly. Dressing room next. Saliba rumours will be in the background all season. We'll be way off the pace by the time the transfer window closes, we've signed no strikers and we'll be right back to 2008-14ish when it's just beyond obvious that a change is long overdue but the club refuses to act. It will end in the same civil war we had with Wanker for years but without the cult loyalty because he's won nothing. The signs of deluded, narcissistic, egotistical megalomania are almost identical with this fucking grifter as they were with the old snake-oil salesman. Just fucking end it all now and we can move on without the toxicity.Kingralph wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 11:00 amArteta Out graffiti being sprayed all around the Emirates. And so it begins…..

Club: The fee is £35m
Arsenal: Ok, I have 13p and some fluff from my belly button. It's red, not the normal blue colour so you know it's rare.
Club: ...... errrrr £35m
Arsenal: Ok, ok. Look, a button fell off my jacket earlier. I was going to get it sewn back on but I'll throw that in too. Don't tell anyone! They will all ask for buttons.
Club: £35m
Arsenal. No can do. I have to spunk loads on some chelsea shit. It's in my contract.
I have it good authority that this is Arteta's actual bartering technique.

His decision is clear as reported during the week: he only wants Arsenal, it’s over with Sporting.
Gyökeres also informed Sporting president about that 5 days ago.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
We have dramatically overpaid for Madueke....
When we're throwing the cash around like this, should just pay Sporting what they want

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
This will drag on for another month. He will sign for us without having a pre-season then we'll hear about how he's not ready to play until the end of September. Then, he'll play for Sweden, get injured and be out until about February. We'll be back to Merino up front, 10 points off the leaders, out of every other competition, limping along in the Champions League and the Arteta fan club will be telling us how it's all down to injuries and that he needs another season.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 12:06 pmViktor Gyökeres will not show up in training at Sporting today, tomorrow or at any moment this summer.

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Sporting's President Frederico Varandas has been walking on thin ice through all last Season; it is one of those scenarios where the Vultures are circling, in that 3/4's of the Board want him gone because of the way he has conducted other transfers (last Summer) and He thinks that if IF He can get an extra couple of Million in the inevitable sale of Viktor Gyökeres, he will save his ass. This is why he is being such a hard-ass over the transfer... His future at Sporting Lisbon is on the line.mcdowell42 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 11, 2025 12:06 pmViktor Gyökeres will not show up in training at Sporting today, tomorrow or at any moment this summer.

Gyökeres won't even take calls from him and so they are at an Impasse ... Which is doing us No Favours.
Besides which I think the Up n Coming Season could be a Nightmare for us Gooners; not just because we may well end up Not getting the player/s we so desperately need: Striker, Defensive Midfielder (to enable Decca's to push forward - his most effective position & role) and Left Back & or CB to comfortably cover for Gabriel and Saliba, which means we 'll be floundering like last season with the players being Over-played to the point of exhaustion and prone to injury..But also with Arteta being (Wenger-like-levels) of Arrogance ... Things will start to unravel between the various factions of the fan base..just like it did under TOF and before long we could be out of all competitions & the Title with some players already wanting out!

Re: Gyokeres
Sporting president offers latest on Gyokeres - will not accept £59m
11 June 2025
Sporting Lisbon president Frederico Varandas says his club will not accept "blackmail and insults" in the bidding process for Viktor Gyokeres.
Gyokeres, 27, has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, in particular Manchester United and Arsenal.
While the club president says Sporting won't hold out for the release clause set at £84m, he also said that they won't accept an insulting offer.
Speaking to Portuguese media, Varandas said: "I tried to take three days off, I came back yesterday. I saw so much information and counter-information that it is only fair to come and explain the process.
"It started last year, when the season ended and Sporting became national champions. During the transfer market we saw that he was going to stay because there was no offer.
"The agent spoke to us to add some clauses. Hugo Viana, as he always did, and very well, managed the relationship with the agents. This relational space is established with the sports director.
"One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the termination clause. Hugo Viana negotiated with the agents over several meetings until the agent demanded the presence of the president.
"At this meeting, which included the president, the agent and Viana, Gyokeres was not present. He wanted to guarantee certain things. And what was agreed? That Sporting would not demand a release clause now. For one reason: he was going to be 27 years old and no player leaves Portugal at 27 for 100 or 90 million euros.
"In that same meeting, the agent wanted to anchor the exit to a value. I said this sentence: 'It's not worth us setting a value because I don't know what will happen in a year's time. I don't know if it will be 40, 60 or 80. What I can guarantee is that I will not demand 100 million euros. From then on, I never spoke to the agent again, I never spoke to the player about departures or values.
"Now I see the agent in the press releasing information. I want to make one thing clear: Sporting has common sense and keeps its word. Gyokeres scored 63 goals and 10 assists. Fantastic performance. Certainly one of the best players to have ever stepped onto Portuguese turf. And Sporting will not demand the clause.
"Now blackmail and insults, Sporting will not accept. One thing is certain: Sporting will not accept 60 million plus 10. As of today, Sporting has not received any proposal for Gyokeres."
