I think that our team could do well this season, last season we seemed to create enough chances to win almost every match, it was just a case of nobody in the team consistantly putting ball in the back of the net. RVP was probably the only guy who was realy deadly in front of goal and he got injured / benched for a lot of the games.
I did not think I would see a season were Brazilian Berty would be one of our top scorers. Also it seemed like the opposition keeper had the game of thier lives everytime I watched the games.
We have tonnes of invention from midfield, and hopefully we can use Theo as a winger this year.
I think if we can have a fit RVP and the new guy can find his feet early, we will be flying.
its too early to say how good our team would be this season .. lets wait for more pre-season matches ... Nevertheless, I am an optimist and believe with TH14 gone, our team will do much better.
I have seen some action from both Dudu (Eduardo) and Sagna, and so far they seem like they have been excellent buys. I saw signs of improvement and maturity from clips I watched of the two friendlies played so far ... we will just have to wait and see ...
ManUre and Livershit only look so strong on paper ... but don't be fooled by huge monies being spent on players, doesnt always translate to good performances ... dont forget Veron, et al ...
PS: Forgive my bad manners, you are welcome to the forum .. a great place to be ...
I'm definately looking forward to next season, partly because im really not sure what to expect!
I think its a shame Freddie has gone, a tremondous servant, very underrated in his earlier days, and since his goals dried up, he became an icon of increased frustration from supporters, so maybe a fresh challenge is what he needs - i hate west ham but good luck to him....
Anothe problem over recent seasons is we appear to have become a selling club, dispensing our best and most experienced players, and losing a solid british backbone (granted quite some years ago) that successful domestic clubs needs and thrive on. However looking at most of the overpaid and overhyped English players, id prefer our bunch of dedicated young 'foreigners' to any money grabbing englishman - there was a time when a footballer played for his team and not money i.e. tony adams, but these days that no longer seems to be the case.
I still think thierry had a great deal to offer, and yes i think he's still past his peak but he still could have struck 20 goals a season - for a player who was injured, tired and allegedly out of form to hit 12 goals in 27 games was not a bad return.
Anyway TH has gone (along with the rest) and onto next season. The players we have bought are, as expected, fantastic youngsters with fantastic potential, Edurado may need a season but i a return between 5 and 10 with good performance would keep everyone happy. I still feel we could do with two attacking wide players, SWP for one, (missed out on babel, and ribery cos of a rift with TH) i doubt martins will come, not sure about navas ,but it would be nice to see a promising frenchman dubbed the new pires at the club - not sure who that would be!!
My mates are saying we are finished and are a uefa team at best -i like that, personally i love being underrated because no one sees you coming and then are surprised when you do well, so i think we are still capable of a top 4 finish, although i think the league maybe a step too far. Finally id like to see a strong new centre world class centre back, willy seems to whinge half the time and cause more problems so willy, shut up or fuck off and lets use the money to be a technically gifted dutch centre back, or a physical bruiser from germany or better still, england if he aint too expensive.
I almost forgot, you are right I saw the highlights of the last game and remember him bursting into the box, loosing a defender, and cutting the ball back for some to shoot.
I like that sort of thing!
I have tickets to the for the "GROVE tournament" AFC vs Inter so should get a look at the new signings.

I feel a cup is on the cards!!
TomKingsbury, these are wise words indeed ... Where u been hiding
Anyways, I think TH's mind was no loner in the team: he was not motivated, and was actually giving balls away easily, and was a negative influence on a lot of players .. so, I think his leaving was a great thing .. we need to move on.
I dont think we are necessarily a selling club ... granted finances have hampered transfer activity, but all those sold are players that have given long service to the club, and who may now appera to be past their primes. We are not a buying club either .. probably more like a grooming club ..
Agreed, we need an experienced central defender with aerial authority .. and gallas is turning out to have been not such a good buy given his mouthing off, and besides he has not been as good as he was labelled on paper ...
Its always great to be underrated .. I would rather be under- than over-rated .. 'cause they just dont see you coming ...
even tho i'm a bit worried i still have a feeling that we are gonna do something this season as the legend Mr Wright said in his sky sports int the fans will see other players raising their game.
Ian Wright also said that his son shaun would need to move away from chelsea to lenghthen his career i wonder about a move to arsenal where his dad became a ledgend.
I just don't really understand what happened to Wenger's 'Super' signings.
He now says when Henry left it changed the need to sign super players... surely it makes it more necessary.
I understand him not wanting to buy 'just anybody' because it would ruin the dynamic of our team - say if we bought Martins or Anelka just for the sake of it. However, I can't help but feel that he is sacrificing our short-term success in order to be good in 3 or 4 years.
