Oh no they weren't!!  They were not part of the squad until Gilberto in the 2002-3 season and Senderos in the 2003-4 campaign.

It would not surprise me if the papers had a picture of the 2004 Invincibles and were referring to that.

Both Gilberto and big Phil were in that unbeaten squad, and the papers were probably commenting on the continued break-up of that awesome team after the departure of Freddie to West Ham.

However, we are talking on this thread about the 2001-2 Double winning squad, and not the Invincibles, and neither Gilberto or Senderos were in that squad.

Trust me Stearmaster, what I stated above about Gilberto and Senderos not being in the 2001/2002 squad is a fact. As for the origins of newspaper article and picture you saw, that was an educated guess about it being Freddie/The Invincibles related item, but most probably a correct one.

Come on Stearmaster!! Now who do you believe and trust more - the newspapers or ECD?!!

Stearmaster how can you say Gilberto was in that Double sqaud when we didn't even sign him till after the 2002 World Cup?! Come on now any true gooner would know that . And as for Senderos, we signed him in June 2003!! And his debut was in 2004. .
