Edelman and Levy bickering like two fans! (16 Jan)
usual thread starter... give us your views. Are Arsenal right to deny Spuds their 15%? Are Spuds out of order telling us they want this as a Grade A game to cream off money from the Arsenal faithful? Didn't have to think too long about that last one eh?!
I dont think the club have a contingency plan to give an away team 15% of the stadium especially Spurs. Because the stadium is a bowl and we havent got a whole stand for the away like the Clockend was, the club will probably have to use those flimsey nets that cover the seats to separate the fans.
That means that if anything kicks off with it being a semi-final, will be easier for fans to breakthru to the other side and also, a loss of seats which could be sold.

Arsenal really should of considered this matter when building the new stadium. The last thing we want to do is go play it at a neutral ground!
I have from a reliable source that it is unlikely that the police are recommending against the 15,000 allocation. As the game is midweek they would have more than enough man power to be at the game, and the time that the police are stretched is at the weekend.

can't remember where i read this, but one of the issues is apparently the potential police bill that will have to be footed by arsenal if 9,000 spuds fans come to the grove. running into hundreds of thousands. basically, more spuds fans = more police. we very rarely keep fans inside stadiums in this country, but on this occasion, it might be an idea to allow the streets to clear at both the lane and the grove and keep the away fans inside for 30 minutes. they could then maybe handle th operation without so many police in attendance.
i've also heard the police angle is that they don't allow north london derbies to kick off any later than 1pm at weekends, but midweeks are a different scenario which they are not happy with. given the chance they'd move the maches to a weekend, but obviously that can't happen.

sp*urs
Mabe another angle on this , i heard via a Arsenal Steward after the sp*urs game at Ashburton that before & after the game about them always being hell bent on smashing up toilets etc & even though there was a large police prescence in the away end @ the 3-0 game they still managed to smash 1 of the ladies toilets causing loads of damage, this was with around 3000 fans i suppose 9000 don't bear thinking about.
But again with Arsenal not wanting to harm relations at board room level this is all kept quite, but this has been going on since around 1994 when they wrecked the Clock End(toilets etc) ater a normal League game.
I think it's time sp*urs as a club took responsibility for their fans actions

i think the club have to be very careful how many Spurtz fans they let in. Can we really control 9000 idiots bent on causing trouble and damaging the stadium? The fact that it's an evening game means they have the chance to get beered up before hand too.
Maybe both legs should be at a nuetral venue? Not ideal, but do we really want 9000 drunken idiot louts wrecking the stadium and causing mayhem in the streets after our kids spank their first team 6-0?

ONCE AGAIN EVERYONE IS BELIEVING THE PAPERS.
THE FACT IS THAT ARSENAL WOULD ALLOW THE PROPER ALLOCATION FOR SPUDS FANS BUT THE POLICE HAVE SAID THEY WILL NOT POLICE THE MATCH BECAUSE OF THE POTENTIAL TROUBLE. NOW AS THEY HAVE SAID THIS TO ARSENAL THE GAME CANNOT TAKE PLACE WITH NO POLICE UNDER RULES.
LETS THINK ABOUT IT DO WE REALLY WANT 15,OOO IDIOTS COMING TO THE WENGERDOME.

Apparently, the big issue is segregation within the stadium. As visitors to our spanking new stadium will know, from within the concourse of the lower tier, you can almost walk round the full circumference of the stadium. The only bit you can't get to is the away section which is walled off - therefore of course meaning the away fans are confined to their own little bit of concourse.
To accomodate 9,000 of 'them', apparently it would mean giving them a section of the top tier above the normal away seats. (So I assume, rather than giving them one long combined away section (like the old Clock End days) 'they' would be on top of each other, some top tier, some bottom tier).
Here's the problem; from the top tier concourse you CAN walk the entire circumference of the stadium, no section is walled off or segregated so there would be nothing (except the Police!) from stopping the idiotic pricks running riot around the entire stadium.
Looking beyond the Spuds game, it's poor on behalf of the club really as FA Cup and League Cup rules make it pretty clear that there would be games when we'd have to offer a much larger number of away tickets than for league games, so you would have thought the club would have made plans for this.
I don't want 9,000 twats in our lovely new stadium, but there will be future games where this problem arises again. And if the club bow to the rules and offer the full allocation to away teams without changing the stadium layout, it puts Gooners at risk from away fans hell bent on causing trouble.

Good points Trev, you think they would have thought of the fact that the whole clockend could be allocated in the cups in the past and designed the stadium accordingly to replicate that
but even if only 3,000 travel, this has all the classic hallmarks of a riot in the making - a North London derby on a dark winters night is a Hoolies dream. most of the big clashes between London firms have been in similar circumstances
a lot of the spuds would travel even without tickets to the game, and there'll probably be quite a few N5 residents looking to give them a warm welcome too.
the boys in blue will be very busy all night i reckon.

Leg10, you say don't believe the papers, are you on the Arsenal board?? Are you a police commissioner??. You obviously have some kind of inside information as you seem to know the EXACT circumstances of this particular debate. I reckon Edelman and levy should have got there burberry caps out and gone down Hackney Marshes for a good old tear up to sort it out, Winner takes all.legend10 wrote:ONCE AGAIN EVERYONE IS BELIEVING THE PAPERS.

post deleted. i am assuming all this kind of stuff is virus related - god only knows what it will do to your machine if you download anything once you click on the link. i am attempting to ban these users, but the ip addresses and email addresses are constantly varying and probably computer generated. in short, don't agree to download any software from what looks like a porn site that may be linked to from any posts in this forum. you'll regret it.
i do try and get rid of these as quickly as i see them, but some days i can only get on the forum once or twice.
