Sorry, Who's the real cup team?!!?

Sorry, Who's the real cup team?!!?

Post by Trevheff »

Bonjour all this fine afternoon, ah what a wonderful world!!

It never ceases to amaze me how the muppets in the press and on TV still talk about Spurs as "Cup specialists" etc etc. More amused than angered by it, especially after last nights events at the Glorious Grove, I took it upon myself to look at the facts just to make myself laugh even more!! (yeah ok so I'm a stato).

Firstly the Spuds. So we all know they won the FA Cup in 91 and George someone helped them win the League Cup in 95 or 96, whenever, who cares. And they got beat by the mighty Blanockburn Ropers in the final of the same tournament around 2002. Other than that, 3 semi final defeats to the mighty Gunners (93, 01 and of course last night) and I seem to remember Everton dumping them on their arse in an FA Cup semi in 1995. That's it!! Brilliant!!

Now lets take a look at the mights reds. If we go back to 1993, by my reckoning (feel free to correct me!) so far since then we've reached 12 finals in 15 years! And I say so far as we've still got other finals to aim for this year. That's made up of 6 FA Cup finals, 2 League Cups, 2 Cup Winners Cup, 1 UEFA Cup and of course last seasons Champions League final. Throw into that 6 semi final defeats in the same period (4 League cup - 3 under Arsene and 1 in Bruce Riochs only season - and 2 FA Cup semis) and I think you'll find that is one hell of an impressive record!!

If you just look at Arsene's record alone, in 10 seasons including this one (I'm ignoring 96/97 as he wasn't in charge for the full season), we've appeared in 8 finals.

Oh and if you also throw in 3 league titles, including 2 Doubles and an unbeaten season, we're quite good!!

So having been as dull as dishwater and done my stato work, I can now define for you what a "Cup side" real is; It's a team who had a few good years in the glory days of Betamax, who nowadays sniff a cup final maybe once or twice a decade and who have feck all chance of getting anywhere near a League title.

All footballs fans are biased, everyone has different opinions, but facts my dear friend do not lie!!

Did you mean "who are the real PUB team"?
I think that it was made perfectly clear on wednesday!!!!

Sorry, still laughing at the Chas n Davers. What a bunch of.....
A power shift in north London was being quoted to me. Tin pot bunch of knukle draggers, they deserve Everything that their team serves up to them on a regular basis, NOTHING.

Sorry about that, just had to get it off my chest.
