Wenger doesn't want experience

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wenger doesn't want experience

Post by Arsenal Gu Bragh »

Wenger told UEFA.com: "You cannot have a youth policy and suddenly buy three players aged 27.

"You destroy what you have done and created. I could have put a player in front of [Theo] Walcott, Denilson and [Cesc] Fabregas, but that would be crazy."

You must always take any reports like this with a pinch of salt. Why? Well, this is from two days ago...

Wenger generally prefers to unearth young players with potential instead of buying ready-made first teamers.

But with Arsenal 10 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, the Frenchman knows he desperately needs to add some steel to his squad.

The Gunners boss said: "We are not close to signing anyone at the moment.

"But if we do buy, I think what we need is maybe someone with a bit of experience.

"We already have many young players so, if we buy, it will be somebody who is ready to play straight away.

"We are not looking for any player, we want someone who can add to the team."

Andrei Arshavin has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.

And while Wenger refuses to identify any potential targets, the Russian definitely fits the bill.

He added: "I don't need to announce a name.

"When you do that there is 50 per cent less chance of making the signing.

"But I need a creative midfielder and eventually another midfielder because we are short."
Is your one bollocks, or is my one bollocks? Who knows. Maybe both. Maybe neither. The point is, I don't think we should get carried away with anything we read on websites or in newspapers. In fact, we should take everything we hear about Arsenal, even from AW with a pinch of salt until you hear confirmation of anything on the official site.
