Have your say on atmosphere before the game v Bolton

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Any thoughts on improving the atmosphere at games?

Have been a lot of threads on this..ideas include a "fan leader" with a megaphone, to more scarves, more flags, song sheets, drums etc.

How to increase support

Post by Titi2 »

Redesign the stadium.
Seriously, it was hopelessly wrong to start with. Seats too far back from the pitch; lower tier too small and upper tier too high and too far removed from the action. Compare Old Trafford, Anfield and others, where there are huge lower tiers close to the pitch. Critical density of fans is the key.
Since, obvioulsy, the stadium cant be rebuilt, the only solution is to bringback standing in parts of the lower tier.

Atmosphere

 It's only WINNING SILVERWARE that will change things. Deep in our red hearts the Emirates has generally been a venue of pain and no gain. AND we have to have players who excite us so that we chant their names again and again in clever songs. When did we chant names before or durig a game except the OCCASIONAL near miss or goal? Even those chants are fading... My grandson chants about Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires, Henry, Wrighty, even Winterburn, but never about the current players. Arsenal cannot just blame we fans. We cannot just blame the stadium. WINNING IS EVERYTHING!
