It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Are a fucking joke!!!

Just heard on radio 5 live of a man jailed for three months, why you ask.

When he found out his brother-in-law was doing heroin, he went round to the dealers house, knocked on the door, when the guy opened the door he pushed his way in, found the drugs and flushed them down the toilet..........AND HE GOT 3 MONTHS :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

WHAT A JOKE!!!!!

As long as the others were charged, seems fair enough. He didn't call the police but chose to threaten a man, which is illegal, he got the light sentence due to circumstances but he did break the law. It is 2 months it seems, I imagine with good behaviour he would be out fairly soon

Doesn't say if the police have or are prosecuting the drug dealers

Fucking disgusting outcome.

Go mug an old lady for her pension. Get community service.

Go stab somebody. Get two months.

The law is a fucking lottery.

The reason? Judges have far, far, far too much power.

And some of them are doddery old bastards, who don't live in the real world.

Our elected government is powerless against senile judges, who choose to interpret the law in any way they see fit. Or even overturn the law of the land.

Judges are not answerable to anyone. *word censored*.

i think judges dont have enough power to be honest, i've read countless times where the judge has been forced to give shit sentences due to the way the system is and have gone public with how pissed off they were at having to give such lean punishments, there should be mandatory minimum sentences for deaths/attempted murders etc, drink driving should be considered pre-meditated rape considered murder etc

somthing like the case above should be a fine for the initial crime/threat but seen as a public service at the same time

Your absolutely correct about the maximum punishments. And I know that judges have felt frustrated about it.

I agree that there should be mandatory sentences for crimes.

My argument is with judges who are far too lenient. And the ones who overturn rececent legislation, because they consider their own opinions are more important than those of the lawmakers (our government).

For example, the government said that persistent house-breakers should be jailed automatically on their third conviction. The judges completely ignored this directive.

Same thing applies to foreign criminals being automatically deported at the end of their sentences.

Judges are a law unto themselves. Not answerable to anyone.

I'd welcome Spuddy's comments on this.

Isn't it correct that Judges are actually imformed more by the clerks that run around the court room? Or is that just in Magistrates court? I know most of them don't have an excellent knowledge of the law and the absolute punishments so always refer to the clerks. Plus you then have precedent and deals that get brokered in for guilty pleas and such.

What the silly fuck has done in this case it seems is plead guilty and beg for mercy. If he had pleaded not guilty and gone to trial how likely would it have been that a jury would have heard the evidence and found him guilty? He's admitted his guilt, of course he's going to get punished for it. He should have claimed self defense on behalf of his brother in law and rid it out.

Roly Poly would have knocked that shit out of the park.
