Couldn't agree more with the comments on Dennis and Thierry, both of them not just Arsenal greats but among the best to ever play their respective positions (particularly Dennis).
I'd like to back up Quartz in his comments about Bobby Pires, the guy was utter class both on and off the pitch and he often doesn't get the credit he deserves. I saw a Villareal game last week on Sky and even though he's pushing 35 he was still the best player on the pitch; the year he was footballer of the year is the best I've seen any Arsenal player play in the 36 years I've been supporting.
Looking back, its a joke that a team containing Bergkamp, Henry, Pires, Vieira, Ljungberg, Campbell, Kanu................etc didn't win at least one CL title.

We never gonna have players like those two again, not in the near future anyway. We might as just accept that and make the best of the situation.
With no relible goal scorers up front and only one midfielder who looks likely to score more than 10 goals a season (I'm not counting on Arshavin yet) I think it's time we start playing with 3 strikers. RvP should have the same role he has for holland on the right where he can cut inside with his left foot. Eduardo should be on the left and Ade or Nic in the centre, having the task of getting on the end of things and giving centre backs a battle as their only job. Then we could have Vela and Walcott as back ups and coming on as subs. Imagine if you'd played 75 minutes and Walcott / Vela comes on with fresh legs running at you....just the thought of it should be enough for any defender to think about faking an injury!

I remember when the Centurions dvd came out and TH and DB did a signing at Highbury. I'd just started a new job that week but couldn't pass up the opportunity so pulled a sicky to make sure I met them. Got my dvd signed and managed to shake both their hands, one of the greatest moments of my life.

My boy was a Junior Gunner and went to the Xmas Party in 2005. Got a shirt signed by all the squad which is in a frame with photos of him with the players who were sat in groups of 3! What a momento for him (and me!!!)King_Kolo wrote:I remember when the Centurions dvd came out and TH and DB did a signing at Highbury. Lads, stop. I'm gonna get a big head.
Every day I think about the 2002-2006 team(s). How in Christ's name did we NOT win a CL with those players? Sad thing is, I think it comes down to Wenger not having a Plan B in too many games where we needed it...
Pires never got the credit he was due. Such a gifted intelligent classy footballer.
I remember the Brady days well and chippy was the greatest player we ever had. Until Dennis came along. Dennis had chippy's skill and more but he also had true world class vision... Simply the best, most complete player I've ever seen, and I include Maradonna, Cryuff, Van Basten, Pele and Best in that.
