He also possesses that bit of steel and experience, although he's probably 15 years older than a usual Wenger signing!!
but he tired a lot second half

We didn't perform as well as we could / should have but 1 all is a good result. As long as we don't go for a 0-0 at home I think we will go through.

I look forward to see more of Fabianski and Djourou, just hope AW doesn't start picking Sillyvestre ahead of him.

You really are stupid aren't you. Adebayor is vital to us. I still dont understand why so many arsenal fans dislike him. He scores goals, is wanted my other big european clubs, and is picked by wenger without fail. He is class so shut up

An interesting point, eloquently put. I could sit here calling you stupid and telling you to shut up because you have a view that is different to me, but I won't seeing as I don't really see the point in that.

The fact is this; yes, Adebayor does have a strange knack for scoring goals and, because of that, he does seem to be a valuable player. However, his work rate recently has been awful, he seems to have no comprehension of the offside rule and has the touch of an elephant. That is part of the reason why he isn't liked too much. The other part is what went on in the summer. Were you not around for that?

I was getting very annoyed with Adebayor last night - as I seem to do in every match. Almost every single player out there was showing more commitment and desire than him. Still, he stuck the ball in the net for us at an important time last night, so it's hard to criticise him too much. All the same, he isn't liked very much for the simple fact that, due to his actions last summer and his on-pitch demeanor this season, he is quite a hard person/player to like...

I thought he ran his socks off last night in a difficult lone striker role, maybe the increased competition and spell on the sidelines has re-ignited his enthusiasm, I for one would prefer him in a one on one with a goalkeeper ahead of rvp everytime, who on the whole has been wasteful in the extreme this season.

I don't feel that enough has been made of the fact that I personally felt like we played with ten men last night. Nasri went missing the whole evening. Unfortunately, after a good start to the season from him, I feel that it has been all too often that he just doesnt turn up for big games. I'm yet to be convinced that he is a £12m player...?

Nasri looked to me like he was still suffering from the manflu, probably had something to do with it.

Adebayor. Well....Adebayor put in one or the laziest, half arsed performances I’ve ever seen. Constantly offside, token efforts to run for balls once they were out of reach and never bothering to jump for crosses or even getting the correct side of his man.

Awesome goal, but abysmal performance.

The first half was shocking to watch, thought it was very poor and was glad when the ref blew, second half was better (which is becoming a pattern this season) and thought the team did well after losing Almunia and Gallas.

I thought Ade did alright yesterday if I'm honest and I'm not a fan of his, seemed to work hard on his own but tired at the end which is not his fault considering he's been out for weeks, great goal too.

Walcott and Nasri were disapointing and Song gave me many uncomftable moments but take nothing away from Villareal as they played well and didn't allow us to dominate the first half.

Great result and it's a good position to be in, it could be even better if Porto see out the other tie and with 2 away goals with United looking poor and in a bad run then you wouldn't rule it out.

i thought adebayor played pretty well last night in the second half. playing as the lone striker he held the ball up well most of the time, scored a world class goal and chased quite a few balls to win corners and stuff. on saturday i didnt think he played well at all as his touch and passing was very poor. but a striker is in the team to score goals and thats exactly what he is doing.

and i think he will stay for a while yet as after he scored his 2nd on sat. he kissed the badge and was patting his heart as if he was saying he wants to stay, so lets support him while hes playing for us. i admit ive been calling his greedybayor along with other names but since hes come back from injury hes been scoring goals which is the most important thing. he won us the game on sat. and got the crucial away goal last night.

they rattled us at the start of the first half, and one thing i will never understand is why we dont close down oposition players! When one of our players gets the ball within a blink, there is someone (or 2) closing him down, but we never seem to uinderstand that thats what we need to do! 3 times Senna was allowed to shoot, one went in, the other Fabianski saved, and the last was just over the bar!

Ade's performance was awful last night. It was his usual lazy self, but he poped up where it mattered and scored a screamer! so cant really critisize him (he is still a *word censored* though)

Roll on next Wednesday!

How long before he gets his agent to start the rumours that AC Milan want him?.Other than the goal and it was a great goal his overall performance was poor

As for kissing the badge he can kiss my arse.He is and always will be a greedy c**t and will continue to be called Greedybayor

If Ade scores a winner in the CL final, going to be fun to see donaldo's reaction

First half, we were second best, while we had enough of the possession, we did nothing with it. The defence, Song and Denilson worked hard to protect Almunia but somebody somewhere was not closing down Senna at all. The loss of Almunia is ok, Fabianski is a good keeper but the loss of Gallas is a huge blow. Going forward, Song, Nasri, Cesc, Walcott and Sagna were awful in the final third, Walcott's pace at least was causing some trouble. Ade was showing both sides of why he (along with most Prem strikers) is not having a great season. He was isolated and was given little to feed on, sometimes I do feel that gets overlooked, on the other hand he wandered into stupid positions and a poor touch let him down once or twice.

Second half, we dominated possession, still didn't close down Senna which was stupid but didn't think we had the final ball to get the equaliser. Walcott was less active but probably more dangerous with his passing, unfortunately he was the only one. Then of course, Ade scored his wonder goal. Good result as we could have hoped to get, need to be better in final third in the home leg

song guilty of no-covering play on who holds the ball...he doesn't made his job as defensive midfielder...he had to launched himself against the opponent player, make interdiction and contrast the shoot...rossi turned back from center to left side and song gone away from him, then the stricker passed side from left to right to incoming senna that has all time of this world to take relax and shoot towards the goal...he has totally negligence for this goal...and it was only 10 minutes since the game started...haven't he no more run? that goal could kill an elephant at the moment but in 2nd half we have decent football and gave more pressure on ball-holders and passed well the ball to adebayor who slept until the moment of the equalizer...bad first half, very good 2nd half...too many booked but we can do it...well done to away supporters, always chanting for the AFC!!

To a degree maybe, but you also have to wonder why it was only Song trying to close down first Rossi then Senna. We had supposedly 2 players in the holding DM position last night, Song & Denilson.

It wasn’t the smartest play by Song cos as usual he got suckered into blindly chasing the ball head down like a dog - albeit a slow, quite possibly retarded dog… http://www.imotion.com.br/imagens/data/ ... Droopy.jpg ! But where the f*ck was everyone else?
