I thhink we should cash in on Robin soon. Elegant on his day but injury prone and not prolific enough.

I know he's not a lone striker but even when he's part of a front 2.....I really really don't know!!

Does anyone else share the doubts I have as to whether he should be viewed as one of our top 2 strikers next season?

Me?.....I JUST DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

mrgnu - BRING BACK THE PIG!!

What I would like to see is a world class striker purchased this summer with Arshavin playing the Dennis role behind. RVP is never gonna be a wide player so where does that leave him? A squad player rather than first choice which he's never gonna accept. Difficult.

Anyone who demands 90k per week (allegedly) but sees the need to drag it back on to his left foot when presented with a tap-in on his right, should take a long look at himself this Summer. Did I fail to mention the most pathetic header of a ball too (as proved yesterday with our only clear cut chance)

He can't go on a free this year as he has one more year left.

If he doesn't sign this summer the Club will sell him - unless they are stupid...

If he does stay, they could do worse than bring Huntelaar in from Real's wilderness. Maybe a double Dutch partnership would work ??

I won't judge RvP on yesterdays performance as playing upfront on your own is a thankless task that is more about workrate than skill. Yes, he missed one decent opportunity but that can happen to anyone.

I have always defended Robin but I must admit over the last few months of the season I have found myself questioning his role in the side and even the squad. He just doesn't seem to be the player he was and certainly is nowhere near the player we hoped and thought he would be.

The aggression, which got him into grief when he was younger, has totally gone from his game and while it did need to be tempered losing it completely has been counter productive.

The wonderful left foot seems to have deserted him too. His free kicks, whether shots at goal or crosses, seem to rely completely now on hitting the ball as hard as you can with very little guile or thought.

I do believe that his form has suffered due to being played in several positions as we all know his best role is playing behind the main striker. However, we have a little Russian now that looks certain to play there next season and for me there is no choice to make right now if that decision has to be made.

While I would love RvP to stay, if his sale funded the purchase of a player in an area we are lacking then I would go with that. There is little point having several players in the squad who operate best in one position while you have glaring holes in other areas.

Allegedly being the key word there.

No way will we sell or 2 main strikers in one summer. It would be a backwards step.
Why not,we sold 3 defensive midfielders last season and didn't replace them

Now now, that's not true. Arsene would tell you that Coquelin has a "great mental strength, hunger and desire and he is a winner". Come the year 2015 we'll all be eating out of his hand

Van Persie is a fucking excellent player.

By far the most talented and skillful amongst the current playing staff.

I find it no co-incidence that when we have played our best football this season, and it has been pretty fucking rare that we have, Van Persie has been at the heart of it.

He links play well, has an ability to spot a long pass, coupled with short one touch passes. He brings the wide players into the game and is one of the only players who realises Theo needs the ball played in behind, not straight at him. He is very intelligent in a football sense and lately I have seen a lot of signs he is a real leader in the team.

CL semi he was straight up to Gibbs with his arm round him, last week against Chelsea from the highlights I saw, encouraging Theo after his misses.

First name on the team sheet for me up front, if we are to have any aspirations of glory next season. As is probably well documented I rate him as highly as any top forward playing right now.

RVP is a good player but i don't know if suits the team. slows down play and he is way to dependent on his left side a other teams know that and are able to take care of him.

i don't think he should be taking free kicks anymore cause quite frankly he is absolutely shit at them

great post number 5, i was going to post about his encouragment of gibbs and theo. If we end up selling him they'll be about 80 threads about how we're a selling club! lets keep these players and add to them, not get rid of one of our classiest
