Dont think hangeland would even be in my top 10 wish list for centre backs

Arsenal set to beat Liverpool & Spurs to Chamakh?

Marouane Chamakh is likely to join Arsenal ahead of Liverpool and Spurs, according to France Football journalist Philippe Auclair.

He told Setanta Sports TV: "Just after the [final] game [of the season] he [Chamakh] said, 'I'll be in Bordeaux. I'll be wearing this shirt next season. It all depends on my chairman Jean-Louis Triaud.'

"But then a couple of hours later, some of my friends talked to Triaud and said, 'Marouane is staying? We all thought he was going to England.'

"And the chairman said, 'Actually, he said that in the enthusiasm of the day. Maybe it was the mist of victory!'

"It seems, actually, that Chamakh is going to go.

"It probably will be between Tottenham, Liverpool and Arsenal. My little finger tells me it's probably the latter, the Gunners that he will be going for."

Arsenal line up â‚¬8.9m Adebayor replacement?

With Emmanuel Adebayor seemingly set for a Â£24m move to Chelsea, it appears Arsenal have already identified a cut-price replacement: Real Betis striker Ricardo Oliveira.

The 6 foot Brazil international cost Betis â‚¬8.9m in January, when he put pen to paper on a three and a half year deal after signing from Real Zaragosa.

The future looked bright at Betis until they were relegated to the Segunda DivisiÃ³n on the final day of the Liga season.

Now Betis owner Manuel Ruiz de Lopera will be forced to sell his best players and the 29-year-old Oliveira looks set to join Arsenal if a transfer fee can be agreed.

Ricardo Oliveira never hit his potential and he wont do it now at 29. Funny how he rejoined Betis only to get relegated.

I know the forum is all about opinions but i just cannot see where you are coming from.

Lescott, is tall, good in the air, good in both boxes and can play left back or center back. He was the highest goalscoring defender in the league last season.

Hangeland has had 1 good season and plays for fulham. If hangeland was to play for us IMO he would turn out to be another tall, turns like a bus phillipe senderos. Playing in the champions league against eto,rooney,etc he would be lost.

At least playing for everton lescott plays at a higher level and has had a few england call ups. As for making 2-3 mistakes a game i dont see them. Yes he got caught for dwogbas goal yesterday and he did have a poor start to the season like the whole everton team did but looking at last season and most of this season he has been 1 of the best in the league.

He would be my number 1 choice and i would be happy if wenger spent all our budget on him say Â£15 mil and then sold greedy bollocks and used that money to buy a decent CM like alonso, which would leave us with eduardo,arshavin,walcott,bendnter,rvp as forward options
