20.45: According to reports in Spain, Barcelona will respond to the signing of Kaka by offering €45 million for Cesc Fabregas. I must stress these are just reports...but would Arsenal by able to keep their talisman?

€14m winger set for Arsenal switch?

Reports from Spain suggest Arsenal are ready to bid for Real Madrid wideman Royston Drenthe.

Real's €14m signing from Feyenoord has not really settled since arriving at the Bernabeu in 2007 and the 22-year-old probably needs a move to rekindle his career.

The 22-year-old's arrival could mean Arsenal's star player Andrey Arshavin gets to play in his more favoured central position, with Drenthe giving the Gunners more natural width.

did you read the comments below this story on the website?

1st one says:
john:
We don't need any new players, we have a very good side already. Song is world class and denilson has yet again proved that we do not need Fabregas. We should sell Fabregas and bank the money until a future 16 year old with good potential comes along at a bargain price. You should all remember how far we have come with Wenger and get off his back, believe me there is no finer manager out there. ARSENE KNOWS!! Bring on next season and watch out you mancs!!

Russian club chase former ace
Zenit St Petersbrug are reportedly set to make Arsenal striker Andrey Arshavin a lucrative offer to return back to Russia.

The 28-year-old playmaker only joined the Gunners in February for a club record transfer fee of £15million from the Russian club and has impressed during his short time in England, scoring six goals in 12 league appearances.

However, the Russian international has recently stated he is shocked at how much he is currently being taxed, reportedly losing half of his £80,000 per week salary to the British government.

Sources close to Zenit have now said the club are preparing to make Arshavin a lucrative offer in a bid to capitalise on the playmakers disillusion on life in England.

"The bosses of the St Petersburg club intend to make Andrey a very thoroughly thought out offer which can motivate him to return home," said Sport Den Za Dnem, quoting a source.

"He has started his career at Arsenal brilliantly but that is not an obstacle for negotiations - on the contrary money is a good reason to begin them. Zenit need reinforcements."

Have to say I remember us being linked to Bable during the U21 and Drenthe was a better player. Also linked too before his move.

He is a good player, Chelsea almost signed him didn't they.

Only issue I have is that it's another player to play out wide which is not the problem area.

Exclusive: Wenger a fan of Uche

[quote]Ikechukwu Uche, who has been hailed by Arsene Wenger, is keen on moving to England, his brother Kalu told setanta.com.

Arsenal manager Wenger, who co-commentated on France’s friendly with Nigeria in St Etienne live on French TV on Tuesday night, has hailed Super Eagles star Ikechukwu Uche and implied that he would ask for the attacker’s phone number after the game.

The 25-year-old forward shone at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and was the star of the show in Nigeria’s narrow win over Les Bleus.

The Gunners boss was impressed by the Getafe star’s display and praised him on many occasions during the encounter.

“What’s his name again? Ikechukwu Uche. I should ask for his phone number,â€

[quote]Arsenal are reportedly lining up a sensational double raid on Juventus for their highly vaunted goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and defender Giorgio Chiellini according to reports in Italy.

Tottomercatoweb.com suggest Arsene Wenger will approach Juve this summer hoping to persuade the experienced pair to join his youthful squad at the Emirates.

Arsenal have set aside €20 million for the world’s most expensive goalkeeper, who also been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Barcelona, and having recently expressed his unhappiness at some of the criticism he has received this year, an unlikely move may suddenly appear possible.

Chiellini has been capped 19 times by Italy, and played over 100 games for Juventus following a €6.5 million move from Fiorentina in 2004. He is highly rated and at 6ft 1â€
