I completely agree with you, we had a 30 second praise from Shearer and then Hanson took over saying Everton was aweful, Lescott situation was key to them being so poor and so on. No positive points towards our game.

Morning lads.. :D Just woke up over an hour ago after the drive back from Liverpool. Got in around 2:30am meself after dropping off mates etc. Was still on a high all the way home, even though being abit pissed at the traffic/roadworks/one lane bullsh*t thru ****** keynes/Birmingham/Luton etc :x - Just finished watching MOTD just now, after downloading it when I got in. Hansen that biased c**t never has anything good to say about us, always finds some way of turning a good performance from us, blaming it on the faults/weakness of the other teams. A little praise/recognition wouldnt be too much too ask is it?

Everton did play poorly due to defensive errors, but even on their good day I still think our arsenal team still would have took them apart with our passing game. Anyways, no more hangover, cant even talk as Ive lost me voice, and still basking in the high of our celebrated win where we simply battered/overwhelmed everton with our play. :barscarf:

Are you really this stupid or are these posts tongue in cheek, we won one game, we played well, they didn't, things went well for us, we are all happy about that.
But don't be foolish enough to believe off the back of one game that we are on the brink of a treble or that we have no problems, it's only a few days since we got taken to the cleaners by Valencia, where most of those that played well yesterday were shite, yet you have forgotten that already.
Use your brain for once in your life and at the very least wait til we have played half a dozen games before you start making definitive judgements on how good we are and how good others are.
Didn't the beginning of last season teach you anything the OTT reaction to any decent performances or wins were generally followed by losses to some of the poorest teams in the prem, only time will tell if we are going to see the same again, in the meantime you should do your self a favour and stop the childish gloating because it's likely before even the month is out you'll have your nose rubbed in it.

Seconded and Spuddy's thread sums up my feelings too. The really good thing about yesterday was we took a very poor team to the cleaners. In some games over the last few years we would have drawn that 1-1.

I wish people would shut up about the valencia game, it was a fucking friendly.

Everton away is a hard game, we won 6-1

Of course you wish that because it doesn't fit in with what you want to see or believe, Everton away is a hard game, but it's one game, as Valencia was one game ,neither on the scale of things mean anything so neither should be used to go OTT with assumptions either way.
If we should look the bollocks in our two upcoming visits to Manchester then and only then can we even begin to judge just what we are capable of this season, but to do it now on the back of one game is beyond stupid.

Who said anything about winning trebles, going unbeaten or the impact this result will have in a 38 game season?

While I understand the way the "usueless players" went about their business must annoy you a bit as it might make you question your own beliefs about them you can not get away from the fact that they went to Everton, the 5th best team in the country and turned them over in such a fashion, no one is mentioning next week or last week, we are talking about this week.

No one here is getting carried away but the thoughtless few who are trying to talk down the way the individual match was won is baffling, it's a game by game basis, we are currently talking about gameweek one where Arsenal had to go to Everton, Liverpool had to go to Spurs, United had to entertain Birmingham and Chelsea Hull, 3 of those struggled to get into gear, one other didn't so the manner of the victory is impressive whether you want to admit it or not.

You are allowed to enjoy it once in a while.

Exactly we all know it is only one game but why not bask in the glory for a while!

AW switch to 4-3-3 looks an exciting move and one that could see us rip a few more teams apart this season. We will never get credit on Sky or BBC because they are obsessed with Liverpool so just ignore them.

Yes it is only one game but I'm going to enjoy it for as long as possible

I agree, we should all be enjoying it. Considering how the other top teams performed we were leagues above them.
What concerns people here is that there are some members of this forum, and plenty of people in general, that will read too much into this game. They'll go off on one thinking that a bloody good win at Everton means we're going to piss all over everyone. Most people know that isn't the case.
It was the first game of the season. It was an outstanding result. I'm delighted with it. All our players made a positive contribution, and, it means fuck all in the context of a whole season. Before anyone gets too excited we need to see that more consistently.

Yes, I think most agree with that but you can not begrudge anyone enjoying the moment after watching a whole season of mediocrity last year, to see forwards put a stint in was exciting on it's own so there's no reason to keep looking backwards now.

It's history now and means nothing if it's nil nil against Portsmouth or losing 3 nil to Celtic.

i havent bothered to read all the posts on the thread so the following is probably similar to what others have said, however the everton result is possibly the worst thing that could have happened to Arsenal this season, long term.

Everton were atrocious. Arsenal were good, but a lot of teams would have done the same thing to everton if the blues had performed like that against them.

I say its the worst thing to happen long term as it will allow AW and the board to think everyhtings alright, and justify not making any further signings (if none occur) which will hamper the team over the course of the season.

Short term a great result for confidence etc, but if it means no reinforcements cos AW and the rosetinters think we have enough after destroying a woeful everton performance, then its long term ramifications will be negative in my view.

Do you really think that Wenger is that short sighted and knee jerk, that he would change his transfer plans based on one result? :?

And if you do think that, then where does that opinion come from? - after all, a comprehensive defeat at Fulham last season didn't make Wenger sign a holding midfielder, did it? and demoralising defeats to Chelsea and ManUre at the end of the season didn't get Wenger splashing the cash this summer, either.... so why would one game against Everton change his policy?

Even last January, when it was clear we were struggling, he still didn't add a defensive minded player, and instead signed Arshavin... and that was hardly knee jerk, as we waited, and waited until the last possible moment and signed him for an absolute steal of a price!

I know someone else suggested the other day that losing at Goodison could be "a blessing in disguise"   .... it's a great theory, I suppose, but not one I share, that's for sure!

Anyway, here's another theory.... beating Everton was a GOOD thing as it'll give the players some much needed confidence to go along with their huge ability! (radical, I know  ) - oh, and it's 3 vital points, of course!
