Wenger Drops Almunia for Liege

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

He booked you because you puked?? Is it in the rule?
No mate, he just lectured me! Told me I was foolish for playing while still drunk and obviously very hung over. He reckoned I had let myself, my team mates and my parents down ( I was about 22 at the fucking time!) and that I needed to take a long look at myself.

The other players on the pitch (both teams) and most of the few spectators that were there were pissing themselves laughing... :D

Cheers ! If that Pole - whose name I can't probounce or type - is our tallest keeper, he must be big, as Almunia must be 6'3" or thereabouts.

But thanks for the guide as I haven't the foggiest idea about either of 'em !! :?

Hope he plays Szczeny he is much better than Mannone...

Where's Merida though?? no mention of him being injured but not in the squad?
Thought you were suggesting he should go in goal for a minute! :D
 Still better than Manonne

Update.

"Manuel Almunia is sick so he will not be with us," revealed Wenger before flying out with his 18-man squad.

"From Saturday we lost Robin van Persie with a knee problem but it is a question of days for him [until he is fit]. As for Denilson, I took him off on Saturday for a back problem. It is a question of days again for him."
Damn. :banghead:
I was hoping Al has been dropped.
No matter who´ll be his replacement - Al is a real pain in the a** imo

Well done Rodders. Your prize is a dancing lesson with Eboue and Adebayor

In this weeks stats, Almunia is credited with making NO saves at Eastlands, where Shay Given made 5. So if Given had played as well as Almunia we would have won 7v4.

Pathetic he is our first choice keeper and even worse when you look at the alternatives

Eh?
and if RVP hadn't missed two chances including hitting the post that would have made it 4-4
and if we had sign Robert Green it would have been 0-4 (incuding RVP new goals)
but if we'd had signed Given then they clearly have no keeper which meant Vermealen would have scored plus a few others making it 0-9

Plus if Bastin hadn't of died he'd have scored but then if time machines excisted then Marty Mcfly may have scored also but then would need to drive and 88 mph....

What's with the 'if's' :?:

I made that point to a mate of mine during the ManUre game, basically Al had played 4 games up to that and off the top of my head I didnt remember making a save.

Don't misread me on this as I am not trying to have a dig, but have you - or anyone on here - actually seen either of these two play a competitive game live for 90 minutes ??

I am not referring to a pre season friendly or a 5 minute clip on you tube. But an actual game with something at stake ?

If so what are eithers strengths/weaknesses ??
I've seen both of them a few times.

They show the reserves on Arsenal TV and Szczesny looks like a real talent. He looks commanding, is good with high balls and a good shotstopper.

Every time I've seen Mannone he was prone to an error or two and misjudged balls and situations. He just gives me an uneasy feeling.

He was fine against Stoke last season though. Yep, I even saw him live.

Well, if we thought Average-Al and Flappy were bad, I'm assuming the goalkeepers lower down the pecking order are even worse!

Could be a horror show tomorrow, lads
