How Arsenal have changed.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

My dad is 68 and has been going to the Arsenal since he was knee high to a grasshopper. When we left Highbury he didnt cry, he said he had some great memorys but that is all they are memorys of great times.

He said you cant keep looking back and it is now time for this great club to move to the next level. He doesnt care about what our kit looks like as long as the players in that kit give 110% to the Arsenal while they are wearing it.

He always said that the Arsenal fans were quiet for as long as he can remember he always put it down to Arsenal fans being knowledgable about the game and said that when they saw that the team needed lifting they would do it.

I asked him about the 'gooners at heart' thing today all he said was there has always been players who would play for the shirt but then again there have been lots who have not.

So I showed him the post on here and he said "well if thats how he wants to see it it's up to him but if you keep looking at all the negatives you will not see the positives and I think under Wenger the positives far out weigh the negatives."
I respect this post and enjoyed reading it and yours from yesterday g88ner. But I do concerntrate on positives all the time beleive me i do. However i don't think there is anything positve about losing your tradition. Like you said 'things change, some good some bad', most good i would say, but the postive threads dont get people talking as much as the negative ones lol.

Anyway, bed time see you guys.

The first post in this thread is absolutely laughable, to be honest. I sometimes wonder if we are being invaded by Spurs/Chelsea fans on here in disguise!

Perhaps some of 'The Arsenal' tradition has been lost over the past 13 years (although if youre going to go down that route youre more talking about the last 4 or 5 years as opposed to the 13). If you move stadiums what do you expect though? The number of memories we all have from Highbury are immense and they will always be remembered, however the best for Arsenal Football Club on and off the field (which is what we should all be hoping for) was to move stadium for reasons that I dont need to go over.

Complaining about having a white kit is slightly petty to say the least. Yes, we are big rivals to Spurs, but as long as it has the Arsenal badge on it who is THAT bothered about what colour the away kit is? Yes, we can have our preferences and I think 99% of us would like to see a yellow away kit...but a white one is hardly the end of the world. White kits look sexy, after all!

With regards to having no players that are Arsenal through and through, look no further than RVP. Van Persie has Arsenal running through his blood. I think other players such as Fabregas and Clichy could fit into the same bracket and who knows, unsung heroes like Diaby, Song, Denilson and Almunia have all been at the club long enough to possibly feel the same way. The gap between the players and the fans has never been so big due to one reason or another, but perhaps if that gap wasnt so large we would be able to see that these players care about the club a lot more than we think. I think if we won a major honour with this team we would change our opinion over things like this. When a team wins trophies the bond between the fans and the players increase a significant amount because you have great moments to share...just a shame we havent had any yet with this team

I agree with many of the points but that is the way football has gone nowadays, if we didn't have the shiny new stadium, badge and plastic fans we would be even further behind than we are now.

Sad but true
