But he’s shown nothing to suggest he should be playing centrally. And tbf the wide position in this 4-3-3 should be tailor-made for him - no real defensive responsibility, more freedom to cut inside & lose his marker etc but without having to play with his back to goal, which let’s be honest he doesn’t have the strength or the nous to do. He should be more able to get on the ball in space & run between the FB & CB playing out wide in this set-up. That’s if he can actually last longer than **** wanking over a Swiss Roll for a change!lagerisgood1981 wrote:Don't think playing wide helps his confidence, when he openly admits he would rather play central ... Although that said this new formation can't accommodate that.
It's too early to be writing him off as hype ..
I’ve said it before but so far the only real thing he’s brought to the table on a regular basis is that the threat of his pace stops teams playing a high-line/pressing game against us, giving more time/space for Cesc/Arshavin etc to play. As far as his own actual contributions they’ve been few & far between & bar a few exceptions even the odd flashes he has shown have been a bit overrated. Too early to write him off & for some reason I still think he’ll come good but he has everything to prove & it’s more based on hope & wishful thinking than anything he’s actually shown so far.
The amount of blinkered fans we have now is unreal - the tackle that injured poor little theo yesterday was a fcuking great tackle and the kind of tackle that not so long ago we lauded PV4, TA6 and Killer Keown for making
However cos theo get nailed a shit load of our fans starting fcuking booing and tbh I was embarrassed by it
It is a mans fcuking game, maybe not as much as in years gone by but is still a mans game and if I wanted to watch a largely non contact sport I would watch table fcuking tennis
I have long since expressed doubts over theo's ability to make it but on the flip side when he went off yesterday our lack of pace in the rest of the team was badly exposed especially in an attacking sense
However pace alone is not and should not be enough to play the game at this level and the guy needs to bring more to the table and fast cos this "he is only young" excuse is running out of legs

Another quality post Augie !!.......

Can't say I agree with that. Ok, so he got the ball, but it was a fucking over the top challenge. Even if Taylor had got the ball vs Eduardo, he'd have still broken his leg on the follow through. that was a "marker" and a really cunty tackle. Anyone who's played football knows you can either just win the ball, or fuck the player up and win the ball.augie wrote:The amount of blinkered fans we have now is unreal - the tackle that injured poor little theo yesterday was a fcuking great tackle and the kind of tackle that not so long ago we lauded PV4, TA6 and Killer Keown for makingHowever cos theo get nailed a shit load of our fans starting fcuking booing and tbh I was embarrassed by it

a excellent tackle by ridgewell, and anyone who thinks different, then go and watch snooker. yes ridgewells follow through took him out, but the simple fact is walcott has not got the physical strengh to stand up to that sort of challenge. oh for the day song, diaby, or denilson would make a challenge like that, and win the ball.
Absolutely right.Rob wrote:Doubtless this will induce apoplexy amongst the more refined 'Rose Tinters'.............but..................... I've never been convinced by Walcott and todays cameo - an entirely fair tackle where matey got the ball but 'carried on' to him - just as Walcott 'carried on' through his tackle, says it all.
Over hyped, over rated, flash-in-the-pan type of player who would have been exposed and discarded long ago in another era - say the early or late '70s.
Now exists in a bubble of hype; but still to complete 90 Arsenal minutes after 4 + years
What does that tell you ??????
I don´t understand that even Nike fell for that hype.

That's like saying "anyone who doesn't like cookies and cream icecream has a wart on the end of their cock and they smell like goats"

In fairness digger that tackle wasnt over the top and, while he may have caught him on the follow through, there can be no denying that ridgewell played the ball cleanly. There was a time that winning the ball and cleaning the opposition player out fairly was classed as a perfect tackle but now it is deemed to be too dangerous
Comparing that tackle with taylors assault on eduardo is absolute nonsense

Well said Augie, Ridgewells tackle was a Tony Adams special from years ago we loved it back thenaugie wrote:In fairness digger that tackle wasnt over the top and, while he may have caught him on the follow through, there can be no denying that ridgewell played the ball cleanly. And that's exactly the point!! Whether we like it or not - and I agree that we used to revel in our players producing such tackles - what was once deemed fair, i.e. taking the ball and then the man, is now no longer allowed according to the rules!!augie wrote:In fairness digger that tackle wasnt over the top and, while he may have caught him on the follow through, there can be no denying that ridgewell played the ball cleanly. Yes, Ridgewell got the ball first but there is no doubt he followed through (and not in the pooing sense!!) with the intention of letting Theo know 'he was there'.
However, I also agree that there is no point in making a big thing out of it because it only allows our enemies in the media and elsewhere to continue to sprout the myth that we are 'whingers' who 'don't like it up them!'.
