The guy worked his arse off tonight!! - his final ball was often poor, but I can't fault his effort. I certainly didn't get the feeling he was arrogant, but fair enough
gibbs was quality, especially in the last 10 minutes.
randall was shit.
nice to see the players running down the clock, somethign the first team needs to do more often in those situations.
Fabianski played ok but thought if he had of been put under pressure he was gunna make a mistake.Gilbert started poorly but grew as the game went on,suffers in height but looks fast and good on the ball also not shy of a tackle. The centre backs looked ok as well but against a better team you would worry for either.Gibbs was immense the whole way through, fantastic defending and while going forward.well impressed with Eastmond and Merida thought they linked up great.Ramsey ran the show and we will be seeing a lot more of him this season, his passing and awareness were second to none tonight.Eddie worked his socks off and also was involved in some great moves.Nasri came into a bit more in the second half but looks like it could be a few more games before we see the best of him.as for Bendtner well I was cursing him at half time and then he comes out and scores and this sums the man up...he is far too inconsistant! Overall all though we beat those *word censored* so all in all a very good night!
Its not all bad for the lpool fans they can now go on their annual xmas shoplifting spree in the big city.

Well I have lambasted Silvestere at any opportunity before the game, moaned on seeing Gilbert in the side but they proved me wrong. Silvestere was my man of the match, a superb performance while Gilbert was solid.
A good win, though rode our luck with the ref near the end giving a wrong offside then ignoring Senderos handball. I think Fabianski had perhaps strayed a little too far off the line, a minor error and would still have him for Spurs game, not overly worked. Gibbs for 30 minutes forgot to defend but once he remembered the job, defended well, Senderos good first half but poor in second half.
Ramsey showed some quality but would have liked him to have helped with the defensive work a bit more, was expecting more from his passing as well. Nasri and Eduardo both feeling their way back, both showed glimpses of what they could do, both worked hard. Eastmond bustled and harried, needs to work on being aware of gaps around him but a good debut for him. Bentender showed his good side, some quality passes and a fine goal, and his bad side with some poor passing but only just back from injury. Merdia, what a strike, set up goal as well, really pleased with that
think gibbs deserves to b in ahead of clichy on saturday - he has shown a lot of desire to win some of those tackles tonight and looks like he wants to get stuck in
Just got back from the match. Great result, well pleased. Cracking goals from Merida & Insua, great control from Nik for his goal too.
Gibbs, outstanding. Gilbert much better than against West Brom, bit iffy in the first 10 mins but improved for remaining 80. Made some vital tackles & looked pretty speedy. Fabianski not bad overall, I see he still likes to come racing out of goal though Good to see Eddie & Nasri complete 90 mins each too. Think we should have scored a couple more, some good chances for Eddie & Sanchez Watt Watt Watt near the end.
Speaking to a scouse fan on the way home, he was just relieved it was only 2-1. Apparently a lot of them thought they would get hammered!
Good result though lads, the next round draw is Saturday lunch time i think?
gilbert competent but not good enough to make it...Nasri showed that he is absolutely top quality...and first team - you can stick it in the corner flag and waste time...it's allowed!
I was in the stadium, and I can't believe guys you're saying Gibbs deserves to be ahead of clichy on saturday's game... all the danger came from the left, he left too much space for degen and Kuyt, especially during the first half...even in the second half, he was better I must say but the danger was still coming from his side...he was everything apart from being reassuring tonight!!! Anyway, it's your point of view, but tonight I share the point of view of g88ner about Bendtner who really '' worked his arse off , he was everywhere, on the right, left, defending, in the air, at the finish..Even if his final touch was not always the best, but the effort he's putting and making is really appreciable ...Well done Nick!!

cracking game that was, as always the arsenal youngsters looked quality, merida and ramsey were class. i must admit, i'm still amazed that bendtner gets a game, but at least he scored i suppose
I think we looked much better today than against West Brom. Senderos and Silvestre kept their antics to the minimum which was brilliant to see. No real mistakes from Fabianski, also good to see. I agree with Augie on Gilbert; in my opinion the only reason we have not got rid of him yet, is because we are a nice club and are probably waiting to set him up with another club and not just release him. Gibbs was good going forward but I am still not sure whether he can be a left-back in the long-term. The midfield trio of Eastmond, Nasri and Ramsey did well. Ramsey was as confident as ever, Eastmond was solid and Nasri contributed as much as he could. I hope Arsene Wenger doesn't try and make Nasri into a defensive midfielder because Wenger has suggested that Nasri has all the skills to be one. I am afraid that might ruin Nasri. Keep him an attacking player, please! Merida's goal was superb, even more impressive when watched on TV. Bendtner's work rate was impressive and his goal was surprising. Never knew he had such power and precision in his locker. Eduardo linked up well but I don't think we are seeing the pre-injury Eduardo yet. The sharp forward who got himself into superb positions. I think it might have something to do with Wenger playing him out on the left wing. He should play through the middle, where he belongs. Terrible to concede the goal when the chorus of "Stand up if you hate Tottenham!" began. Why ruin a perfectly good evening by reminding us of them? Karma had then bit us and a left-back out of all people scored. Oh well, what happens, happens. All in all, a good fun match.
Ramsey and Gibbs were exceptional, even with a first teamer in Nasri in the midfield Ramsey was still the one controlling the game in there which says an awful lot about his maturity. Gibbs looked good as well especially in the second half. Eastmond surprisingly good as the holding midfield which isn't where he's playd before but I still can't see him making it. Bendtner with the sort of performance he needs more of, do little and put away a chance when it presents itself. Professional performance from the youngsters, hopefully the first team will learn the value of keeping the same temp when seeing a game out.
