The US billionaire has bought another 427 shares in Arsenal's holding company, at a cost of £3.6m ($5.86m), taking his shareholding to 29.6%.
He is nearing the 29.99% threshold, beyond which he would be forced to make an offer for the remaining shares.

I heard Alan Brazil this morning. He thinks he is in the know and that Kroenke is just buying up shares in cahoots with Danny Fizman and the other Board members in order to keep the baby boiling Uzbekistani at bay.
There is no intention of a formal takeover. Kroenke see's us as a great investment and nothing else.
This is what I was desperately hoping to be the case, but it is coming from a fat alchoholic Jock. So who knows.

By saying Yank are you discribing a non-indiginous person from the country now know as The United States of America which was formally inhabeted by the North American Indians. Which was then forcabley taken from them by the invading hords of Western Europeans who then inturn introduced slavery into the American continent. These mainly East African slaves where the forced into a life of racist menial work by the white Europeans for little money and hard labour untill slavery was abolished. The Americans of black desent the fought a long and hard battle for equal equality which inturn has lead to a African/American being the President of the United States of America

Just had a City analyst on Sky Sports News.
He said the only way a takeover could work is if he (Kroenke) had support from the majority shareholders.
He said there is now way he will get that from Lady Nina so he will need allies in both Usmanov and Kroenke.
Basically he was saying if Kroenke does not get Usmanov onside then it simply will not happen.
Could these two work together? They were both brought to the club by Dein in one fashion or another!

He doesn't need to work with him, he just needs to offer him enough to buy his shares.Percy Dalton wrote:Basically he was saying if Kroenke does not get Usmanov onside then it simply will not happen.

Given that Usmanov said a while back that Arsenal was an "investment", he could be quids in.

That's not what the expert said Digger.
Buying 29.9% of the shares only forces him to make a takeover bid. It does not mean that they will have to accept it. He said that Kroenke will need support from the other major stakeholders and if Fiszman sells all or most of his shares to Kroenke that only leaves Lady Nina and Usmanov. Lady Nina is old school Arsenal he said and her antagonism towards selling shares outside of the Old Etonian network is what got her removed. She will never support Kroenke.
That just leaves Usmanov. He owns a quarter of the club and he can block anything Kroenke attempts to do.
I agree that Usmanov said this was an investment but what we do not know is will he want to cash in now as part of the takeover deal or wait until the club is less debt ridden and sell them then at hopefully a much increased price.
It forces him to make a bid, but it doesn't force him to pay £xx for it. He can offer to buy the remaining shares at 1p each if he wants... he's completed his obligations by that.
Surely the board would just want to control at least 50% of the shares, so they can block anything Uzmanov does? Kroenke @ ~30%, plus whatever Fitzman and the minority holding boardmembers must be close to 50% now?
