As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I wish you hadn't asked. Partly because it reminded me how bloody old I am (this is the equivalent, when I started going to away games, of someone talking about matches just after the war!!) and also because it was so hard to actually track down details. I can now confirm that this match was in Dec 1979. We drew 1-1 at Highbury and lost the replay 3-4 AET. No wonder my memories of it were a bit hazy, not helped by virtually non-existent drink drive laws! Later in the same season we lost to West Ham in the FAC Final on the Saturday, followed by Valencia in the CWC Final on the Wednesday (at the now infamous Hysel Stadium, Brussels) and we still had two league games to play to try to qualify for Europe the next season. We, amazingly, managed to carve out a win at Wolves - but finally succumbed at Boro!
First match I ever saw was the FA Cup against Ipswich. My dad wasn't a footballer so he never went to a footie match, only football I saw as a youngster was the FA Cup on telly!
Think I'm a bit older than everyone! My dad, Islington bred, also had no interest in football. My 1st game was an FAC 6th round v West Ham in 1975. 54000 at Highbury, pissing down, WHU took the north bank - trouble kicking off all over the shop, and we lost 0-2. As an impressionable 14 year old.....I was hooked!!
