Winning the prem was a little too ambitious must re evaluate

Post by ChildrensCardGames »

Considering how far we were last season, winning the prem is an unrealistic target. We haven't finished in the top 2 for around 5 years so I think that should be our goal. The minimum should be to finish in the top 3. the result is a terrible one. I know some will say i'm being too dramatic but Chelsea look really strong and also we have only played 1 match against the top 4 whilst utd have played 3 and 2 of them were away from home. Lets finish in the top 2 before we talk about winning the title.

If you can finish in the top 2 you can win the title.

Let's see where we are in January and then asses what your goals should be for rest of season. Nothing wrong with chasing Chelsea, trying to close that gap till the end of January, nice to have a little ambition

Re-evaluate??? why??? :?

Surely you just try and win as many points as you can and see where that gets you. After all, why put a ceiling on your hopes and dreams??

Damn we are second in the table at the moment and suddenly we have no chance. Thus far today was just a blip lets keep thinking that till we play Chelsea and hopefuly smash them. Anything can happen.

get rid of the dead wood and re-invest in quality. lets be honest we need to deal. if only arsene would realise we are so close. so frustrating.

It’s a test of our character as well as our quality now. Obviously you need both to have a shot at winning the league. If we have enough & we show it we’re not out of the running yet. If we don’t then we never had a chance to begin with. Let’s see what we’re really made of.

Desperate for a win next week, but a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world. It’s more a must-not-lose game than a must-win - not that I’m suggesting we play for a draw obviously. Who knows, maybe today’s result/performance might even ultimately do us some good for the Chavs match. Whether it’s less pressure, more pressure, a kick up the backside, a change in how we/Chelsea approach the game, a bit more (or even some at all!) work in training on defending set-pieces…! Even in 89 one game didn't make or break a whole season all on it's own.

The season is far from being over. Anything is possible, and I still believe. But we're gonna HAVE to win some games that will be important. Next week is one of them. Chelsea, as much as it pains me to say, are looking like their cruising to the title. They make very few mistakes, and the last mistake they did (against Villa), we were not capable of taking our chance to put a big pressure on them. I'm talking about putting pressure on them because lets face it, they are the obvious No 1 title contenders...
So I just hope we can take profit of every little mistake they make during the season. Any game lost by chelsea will mean our game will be a MUST win for me...

But I think we can do it. Depends on the players and if they can stop shaggin the nurse for a second....

The problem is, it doesn't look like Eduardo is the man to play the solo role up front - it looked that way before today and after the match I'm even more convinced.
The midfield were very disappointing - with the likes of Fab, Rosicky and Nasri on the pitch you'd have thought we had plenty of attacking prowess but sadly the whole midfield, apart from Song (never thought I'd say that)! were poor today, particularly Fabregas and his final ball/dead balls, which failed to beat the first defender on many occasions. We were unlucky for the goal but didn't really look like we would win the game anyway. If we play like that against Chelsea they will stuff us. We really need to beat them to get back on track, another loss would mean 4 defeats before the end of November - that will be the end of the title challenge as we'll lose at least two more games between then and the end of the season.

Why did it look that way before today? Give me some evidence!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just asking what you're basing that on. I can't recall anything in the past that would indicate he cannot do that job.
