Arshavin wants a taller team too...

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

far for me to be putting Rooney up as a great example but I remember Fergie saying how impressed he was with Rooneys willingness to play out of position out on the wing!!

understandeable maybe but while he is being paid VERY well to be at the Arsenal I would like to see a little more effort and a little less whinging!!

Why should it be "understandable" that he can't keep his trap shut, and publicly undermines the organization that pays his massive wages?

As is common knowledge, AW doesn't like anyone who doesn't agree with his every word like some little lapdog, hence the presence of Pat Rice next to him. In any normal private company, where a person simply agrees with everything his boss says, he's effectively redundant and should be given his P45.

Is AA the only one with the balls to say what the team feels? I'm all for it. Someone needs to tell AW how it is, or AA and Cesc will be off to Barca fairly soon. May just be delaying the inevitable but I've not got a problem with him mouthing off. He's a winner, unlike the other pussies in the squad. Agree he could be putting in more but he's been showing more effort recently, and who else would have played on after getting staples in his head???

I rate Arshavin's technical ability. You'd be stupid not to.

BUT where are you getting this idea that he is a winner? What the feck has he won outside the backwaters of the Russian league?

Real winners try as hard AS POSSIBLE to take the team to victory. Can you honestly say Arshavin has being doing such this season?

When he does so I'll be fully behind him kicking his teammates/AW up the arse. Until then he needs to shut it.

It came out all wrong........ :?

By Chris Harris

Arsène Wenger has urged his players to put their concerns to one side and bounce back quickly after a turbulent week on the pitch.
Andrey Arshavin questioned the lack of height in Arsenal's squad when he spoke to reporters in the wake of last Sunday's defeat against Chelsea and, at his pre-match press conference, Wenger acknowledged that injuries to Nicklas Bendtner, Robin Van Persie and Abou Diaby had left Arsenal short - in more ways than one.
The Frenchman believes Arshavin's words were lost in translation but, either way, he can do nothing to address Arsenal's lack of height until his injured players return or the transfer window opens.
Until then Wenger wants his players to behave like ‘champions' and keep Arsenal's title challenge on track.
"I read the original interview [with Arshavin] and it is not exactly what he said," noted the manager.
"He said at the moment we missed some players and that it is difficult but the Premier League is difficult.
"You can understand sometimes that after a big game loss their disappointment gets a little high. Of course we were shocked by what happened [against Chelsea] on Sunday. Sometimes you cannot take every word after a game literally, especially when it is translated.
"I personally love Arshavin as a player and as a man and I can understand the comments of the players sometimes but I believe it's important that no matter what I should do or not do, I cannot do anything before January. So let's focus on our immediate targets and try to win our football games.
"It's part of our quality to show that when it doesn't go as well we are still strongly determined to go. I have said many times, champions keep going when normal human beings stop. That is what we want to show."

I would suggest that the difference is rooney is being played out of position in a team that is winning trophies and I would suggest that if we were winning trophies arshavin might be more reserved in his comments. Of course when you are being shafted out of position to accomodate inferior players it might also get on your tits too

anytime he whinges of late i keep thinking of this song from the mid 90s

Skee-Lo

I Wish Lyrics

Hey, this is radio station W-S-K-E-E
We're takin' calls off the wish line
Making all your wacky wishes come true

Hello

1-I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a '64 Impala

I wish I was like six-foot-nine
So I could get with Leoshi
Cause she don't know me but yo she's really fine
You know I see her all the time
Everywhere I go, and even in my dreams
I can scheme of ways to make her mine
Cause I know she's livin phat
Her boyfriend's tall and he plays ball
So how am I gonna compete with that
'Cause when it comes to playing basketball
I'm always last to be picked
And in some cases never picked at all
So I just lean upon the wall
Or sit up in the bleachers with the rest of the girls
Who came to watch their men ball
Dag y'all! I never understood
Why the jocks get the fly girls
And me I get the hood rats
I tell 'em scat, skittle, skibobble
Got hit with a bottle
And put in the hospital, for talkin' that mess
I confess it's a shame when you livin' in a city
That's the size of a box and nobody knows yo' name
Glad I came to my senses
Like quick-quick got sick-sick to my stomach
Overcome with my thoughts of me and her together
Right?
So when I asked her out she said I wasn't her type
(rpt 1, 1)

I wish I had a brand-new car
So far, I got this hatchback
And everywhere I go, yo I gets laughed at
And when I'm in my car I'm laid back
I got an 8-track and a spare tire in the backseat
But that's flat
And do you really wanna know what's really wack, What
See I can't even get a date
So, what do you think of that?
I heard that prom night is the bomb night
With a hood rat you can hold tight
But really tho' on figuero
When I'm in my car I can't even get a hello
Well so many people wanna cruise Crenshaw on Sunday
Well then I'm gonna have to get in my car and go
You know I take the 110 to the 105
Get off on Crenshaw tell my homies look alive
Cause it's hard to survive
Livin' in a concrete jungle and
These girls just keep passin' me by
She looks fly, she looks fly
Makes me say my, my, my
(rpt 1, 1)

I wish I was a little bit taller...
I wish I was a baller...
I wish I was a little bit taller y'all
I wish I was a baller (3)

Hey, I wish I had my way
'Cause everyday would be a Friday
You could even speed on the highway
I would play ghetto games
Name my kids ghetto names
Little Mookie, big Al, Lorraine
Yo you know that's on the real
So if you're down on your luck
Then you should know just how I feel
Cause if you don't want me around
See I go simple, I go easy, I go greyhound
Hey, you, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down
Ahhhh, yes, ain't that fresh?
Everybody wants to get down like that
(rpt 1, 1)
