HD ready TV"s and sky HD

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

yup, if your room is big enough. If you sit too close it is not so good.

I have sky HD. It's cool :barscarf:

Its important not to get too big a TV for your room. Below is a guide think about how far away from the TV you normally sit and then you'll see what size screen is best for you

EDIT: I think the maximum distance is the best guide below ignore the minimum

size isnt everything, you'll be pleased to hear, mr ****!

what you need instead of screen size, is the viewing distance. obviously the further you sit from the tv, the bigger the screen you'll want, so if you are only 4 metres from where you want to put it, you're best of with a 32". 42" are overwhelming at that distance and you will lose picture quality.

or use that table

recommended manufacturers would be LG and samsung for a reasonably priced, good quality kit. my preference when i used to sell TVs was panasonic, especially in the 32-37" range as they had some great features that were uncommon in screens under 42".

my advice? go looking on christmas eve because shops are likely to have a shit load of the sale leading tv to take away and any salesperson worth his salt will offer to refund the difference if the price goes down on boxing day (used to sell a shitload on the 23rd and 24th because people got carried away with christmas and never came back they were so happy with the tv!) DO NOT FORGET TO GO BACK TO GET THE DIFFERENCE!

margins are generally low on tvs as well so you are unlikely to get any real money off if you haggle, where the money is is the add-ons so either be prepared to get knocked back if you ask for money off or get a shit load of accessories as well, they should do you a decent deal.

bear in mind also that HDMI cables are ALL 100% digital so there is no loss, those posh ones for 60-90 notes are not worth the money!

Yes HDMI cables are brilliant for connecting DVD/Blueray players or Sky HD and as the other poster said get a cheap one, i got one for a fiver from Argos, because its a digital cable they either work or dont so a cheap one is as good as a dear one

great for when your watching arsenal from the internet, since i got rid of my sky sports its what i do and i suppose if you wanted you could watch porn aswell but i would never do such a thing

GET THE TV FIRST ****.

Then when you get your sky HD box the kind man will fit an hDMI lead for you for no charge.
