Journalists

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Don't get me started on FOOTBALL writers.

Why don't they report on what they know rather than what they think.

1. Constant unfounded speculation to sale papers ( to mugs ), particularly tabloids.

2. Self important claims to have some sort of ROLE within the game because they experience a bit club hospitality.

3. Knee jerk criticism levelled at Players ( for one bad game ), Managers ( one or two bad results i.e. tactically naive, lost the dressing room, out of depth ).

4. TELLING US, on national commercial radio stations and in papers what a club needs in order to push on and improve ( what the f*!k !!)

5. Henry F*!king Winter playing the all-seeing-eye just because he's a bit posh and looks like a politician. ONE Example :- On the signing of Jose Reyes he claimed to know all about him and that Wenger had signed a dead cert'. A hardened little gypsy spaniard who was extremely tough and would have no problems adjusting to the English game or the English way of life. Now I know Wenger was also wrong on this count but I'm sure AW would have been far less ALL-KNOWING than this pompous wordsmith when asked of Reyes.

I could keep going but FINALLY, anyone who makes thier sole living by picking, poking, criticising and down right provoking reactions out of someone (players and managers) who put there heart and soul into what they do is a complete wanker. They're just writers FFS, nothing more, not managers, not players, NOTHING. And what are they gonna say to thier Grandkids when they are old enough to ask. I tell you what, ''I knew Arsene'', ''I knew Fergie'', ''I knew Capello''. Bollocks, these men of football tolerated you for a quiet life !!

Who critiques the critics when they're all tickling each others arses ?

I hate Journo's, all of 'em.

Think that Damien Lewis in The Mirror is an arsenal fan, either way he's always fair to us.

For a spud Martin Lipton is quite fair as well.

Henry Winter thinks he's Jose Mourhinio

A lot of journos, despite what us fans might think, are actually quite well disposed to Arsenal purely because the club treats them with respect and lays on a decent spread at games and press conferences.

They might write a lot of utter bollocks, but without them the club and football in general wouldn't get the hype it does. So in a perverse way they have contributed to the success of the Premier League.

I'm not a journo by the way (although my kid bro is and to be fair he'd sell our grandma if he thought it'd make him a few bob).

Nope. Lewis is a Liverpool fan.

Do you really think that? :? :? He was the guy last season that was writing 'Arsenal in Crisis' on an almost daily basis!! The Mirror's sport coverage as a whole has been a load of shite for a good few years.

Agree there. The guy has always got on my tits and is as pompous as can be. Thinks he knows a lot more than he actually does and is a bit too close to the 'England boys' for my liking.

Every paper has 'ARSENAL IN CRISIS' whenever we loose. What I meant was his match reports etc are always unbiased, he writes what he sees a lot of the times. But with every journo, he's going to throw in the odd anti-arsenal drivel.

I'm quite bored of all this "the media hate Arsenal" diatribe. It doesn't exist. Match of the Day don't hate Arsenal.

The British media love you when you're up, and kick you when you're down. That's how they operate.

2002 and 2004 they absolutely loved us. We're average now so they don't give us the time of day.

It's not an Arsenal thing guys. Get over it!

Brian Reade :banghead: (Liverpool) Always has digs at Arsenal
Antony Kastrinakis (Liverpool) said so on Setanta Sports

Dunno who Henry Winter supports but I think he is very good, yes he will talk up Ferguson but whether I like it or not if I take off the red-tinted glasses you can see why with the amount of trophies he won and player he devolped you can see why. That Andy Dunn fella certainly aint a Gooner as hes normally quite hostile whilst taking about us.

I heard before Patrick Barclay is a Gooner.....I don't think he is but he is always positive about us. You can scense he like Arsenal.

Over in Ireland here, The Irish Times Rugby Correspondent, Gerry Thornley, appears to be a Gooner.
