Wenger has got to go!
Obviously it's because he hasn't got the defence from the early 90's.
The reason we haven't won anything is down to a variety of things:
Our net spend over that time is probably the lowest in the league.
When we were losing players like Vieira, Henry, Pires and Ljungberg, we didn't have the money to bring in ready made replacements, due to the stadium.
Now we have some money (maybe?) Wenger refuses to go into the transfer market and sign a good goalkeeper or strengthen the team in other areas
Our inablitliy to beat the big teams at the moment, in my opinion is due to the formation and the fact it seems Song is the only one in midfield that does any defending.
There are obviously lots of other reasons. Does that mean I should forget all the good things Wenger has done? I'm abit more loyal than that. It was only a few years ago we went unbeaten for a whole season!!! There are teams out there that have never won anything! EVER! Like I said earlier in the thread, the fans of 90 other teams would piss themselves if they saw this!

No, it doesn't mean you should forget everything good that Wenger has done. I'm sure not even his biggest critics can do that and retain any shred of creditability.
Neither does it mean that in his defence, people can make believe that everything achieved prior to Wenger becoming manager was basically worthless in comparison. That is the bit that's riled me up!!
And finally, nor does it mean that because he had success in the past, we as supporters shouldn't therefore dare question aspects of what Wenger has done (or not, as the case is with regards transfers). And more importantly, that doesn't automatically make them less loyal than you!!
Me, you and millions of others support Arsenal Football Club. We all want what's best for the club but maybe differ in how best to achieve it. Our loyalty should never be questioned because of that difference.

I do agree that calls for his sacking now are a bit extreme and I for one haven't done so. But some people have decided that 5 years without a trophy, and little hope of any in the near future is long enough.Vlad III wrote:I'm not saying he's beyond criticism. There must inevitably come a time when Arsene's future will have to be questioned seriously. Especially if we don't show signs that we are progressing and it's considered to be because of Wenger and his chosen policies. And alas for admirers of the manager, that time is getting closer with each fading challenge.

What pisses me off isnt necessarily the lack of trophies (although that does rile me a bit) its the fact that he cant/wont see whats going wrong with the team..... I believe we are 3 signings away from challenging but he wont sign these playersVlad III wrote:I'm not saying he's beyond criticism. I have done so in the above post. Same...this is not about trophies..it's about negligence..his job is to make us as good as we can be and to use everything with in his means to achieve that and he is not doing so..that's what brings the frustration and the annoyance, not not winning trophies...flash gunner wrote:What pisses me off isnt necessarily the lack of trophies (although that does rile me a bit) its the fact that he cant/wont see whats going wrong with the team..... I wish I could say, I could see where people are coming from on this, but I just can't.
In the last few months I have heard Portsmouth fans say "We might go under, but it will be worth it because we won the FA cup". This might be abit rash, but it just shows what that one trophy means to them. In our lifetime, we have seen our team go a whole season unbeaten, win countless trophies and play some of the best football in the world, but some people still aren't happy. We don't have a divine right to win anything and its arrogant to think we do. I will never ask for Wenger to be sacked because he has given me the greatest moments of my football supporting life. Yes there will be life after Wenger, but I don't want that to be any sooner than it needs to be.
Wenger
That wasn't aimed at you Hleb, just a general point.

In my opinion we have the worst keeper in the league! I still haven't forgiven him for the champions league final! I'm not deluding myself Wenger's perfect, but that doesn't mean we have to get rid of him! Which manager in the world is perfect?flash gunner wrote:What pisses me off isnt necessarily the lack of trophies (although that does rile me a bit) its the fact that he cant/wont see whats going wrong with the team..... What is there not to forgive him for? You're not confusing Lehman with Almunia, are you?Vlad III wrote:In my opinion we have the worst keeper in the league! If this was a Nottm Forest forum in 1992 there would have been people saying Clough should never have been sacked because of what he has done for the club but in hindsight he should have been.... Now im not saying Wenger will get us relegated but everyone has a shelf life and when youve been somewhere too long you sometimes cant see the wood for the trees (no Forest pun intended) , his transfer policy is bordering on ridiculous. Id love it if he turned it around (and i think he is a couple of signings away from it maybe) and eventually retired on a high but i just cant see him doing it
