Arsenal v Man Utd – a Saturday evening Indonesia (7/11)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal v Man Utd – a Saturday evening Indonesia (7/11)

Usual thread starter… I’ve often fancied the idea of living in this part of the world after holidaying there a few years back. With an internet connection, I could probably keep the website going and even get the printed issue to press online. So that’s sorted. Now to break it to the missus…

Any good stories about watching Arsenal matches on the box on your hols? Or on a regular basis for our foreign members?

Arsenal support in Asia !

Post by Herd »

I lived in Singapore from 2001 to 2005 and when I first arrived it seemed there was no fan base for the Mighty Gunners.
Liverpool and MUFC were there in force ,the devils even having a large shop and Bar in Orchard Road (now closed).
Even Spurs had a website and a regualr haunt although they wernt and still arent on the TV very much.
Although 2 X 3 pm premiership games are screened they also show the early and the late games too however getting a Bar to show Arsenal wasnt easy at first.

Nevertheless everytime I saw a person with a shirt on I would appraoch them and get their email adresses and gradually we had a core.
Eventually we managed to get a base camp the Elizabeth Hotel and an ad hoc Supporters Club was formed .

Attendances varied but for the MUFC Cup final we had about 300 people and since I left the country the Club has gone and made itslef an Official Branch of the ASC.

The Club is mainly local with a few ex-pat Brits but they are as keen
as mustard and many come over to London over x-mas and other Holiday times to catch a few games.
Against Bolton no less than 7 were in attendance ,not bad for people who often earn much much less than we do.

If your ever in Singapore I would seriously check them out, their website can be found at www.arsenalsingapore.com .

They have learned a lot of songs but are always keen to here more !
