Issue of spoilt supporters and complaining
Issue of spoilt supporters and complaining
As a club we have had a very bad run of it as of late. The fans are clearly split between those who vent their frustratons and those who support the team in the face of all things bad.
I feel both sets are right and we all need to learn. I feel as fans were neither loyal or haters. We do not support our team enough at home and we do not give them enoughh stick when they are truely rubbish. I agree with everyone who says were underperforming and that we need changes in the short term and yes we need to get behind teh boys.
Now we were fantastic against Chelsea at Cardiff and they deserve every applaud they get, however at teh start pf the season they were shite against teams such as Boro. Against sheffield united we were shite, against villa we were shite, on the whole we have been shite for two seasons, and if anyone outside teh top four were any better, we would not be in the CL at all this or next season.
Now my point is we have been shite, we shoudl support teh team always, but my frustration in 60,000 cheerin teh team in a 1-1 draw with Boro ( saved by a gifted penaltly). That rsult and others are crap, why as fans dont we give some feedback and some collective stick. AW and TH and others commenting on the spirited comeback or the grwoth, im sure they woudl think these drown workds twice, and their perfrmances if there poor performances were met by some boos here na dthere. All season I have wathced teh ball go around the 18 yard box and no shots, so why cant we as fans trell the team we are not happy with that.
I dont feel this is moaning or being spoilt, its being supporters, giving feedback to teh team, thesegroup of playerds play for our club and are not the the club. If Th remains as bad next season as this, then get rid. If AW does not deliver with this team in 3 years at teh most, then get rid to.
Supporting Arsenal is not cheering henry through a season of underperforming or guarentted starting role, supporting arsenal is not lauding over AW 10 years of success. Its about supporting the clubs and its progress, and we should be noisy and let them know when things are fantastic, but when there crapp we should also let them know.
I will be a happy man when I hear a performance like that against Boro or Shef Unt is met by a chorus of boos and gering, may be the kick up teh arse the players need.

I guess I feel as deflated as many other fans, six weeks ago things seemed so possible yet now all we have is the chance to chase a Champions League place, hold on a minute, isn't that Tottenhams dream, a Champions League place, isn't that what every Bolton Wanderers fan sets out as their benchmark for success every season? Yes this season has fallen a little flat by our own very high standards but lets not get all posh bollocks when it comes to what we expect because we are Arsenal. Our season was looking rosie by our own very high standards up until we lost our main man, , but step aside Henry, I was referring to to RVP, yes Henry may have scored the winner against UTD but it was RVP that stoked the coals of that fire that lead to such a victory. We have been pretty poor in recent weeks, I fcuking panic everytime we concede a corner in the last few minutes whether or not Senderos is playing (Bafoon) as we cannot seem to be able to defend vital set plays. But hey I will still go as often as I can and I will continue to lose my voice at the end of 90 minutes, not 85 minutes as many fans do. Keep the faith, it could be a lot worse, we could be Tottenham.
I don't think booing or whinging is going to make a blind bit of difference to our performances aside from make them worse. Think of the last time you had a bad day at the office. Did your boss, or colleagues whining make you perform any better? However, a bit of praise can lift you up can't it, which is why we're called the twelfth man. Bloody Hell we really are spoilt aren't we? Last season's fourth is the worst we've finished in 10 years!! What have we won in that time?
Yea, RVP is stoking the fire, or should say was stoking the fire. But the suggestion of getting rid of Henry next season if he doesn't perform?? Absolutely ridiculous!
This is not the first season that Arsenal have been beaten by a bottom of the table team- won't be the last either.
Now pull yourselves together, let's cheer the team thru the rollercoaster ride that will be the last 8 or 9 games of the season!

I've vented my own frustration on here in the thread headed "Things have got to change". As frustrated and disappointed as I am I will also shout myself horse at the next game and I for one have never booed an Arsenal side off the pitch. 99% of the time I applaud them off, if I disapprove massively to the effort I have seen I remain silent.
My frustration is not simply from the past 4-6 weeks, it's the past 3 years when we have failed to mount a single serious title challenge. I'm not so fickle that I turn on the team off the back of a few bad weeks. How long have we supported to Arsenal to realise that happens during the best of seasons??!
Whether a fan is on here berrating the team and complaining or strongly defending them, it shows me one thing, that fan cares about the club. So I may disagree with them, sometimes seriously disagree, but I will never criticise them as they show a passion for our club.
If only we could fill the Grove with 57,000 of these type.

trevheff ,i wish i could write like you.
its perfect and is exactly how i feel at this moment .constructive criticism is ok ,it should be ok for us a supporters to show how we feel when they are good or when they are crap, but if we dont say anything then some players will play bad and think its ok because the supporters will still be there saying well done good effort etc etc and then pick up there 100,000 grand at the end of the week.
were all in it together and maybe at times we are over the top in our reactions to poor results but this is just frustration and it shows passion , which is what we all need to show on the pitch or in the stand
maybe some of the players should look at sites like this and understand supporters frustrations , it could turn out to be a good thing, i know that in myself if someone says to me your not doing job right then i think ok i will show these people. i am the best i am going to do this i am going to work hard and get it right.
as supporters that is what we want to see
passion

You What?!!
i think everyone loyal to the club at the moment is feeling pretty frustrated and upset at our season - if you think about how many games we've lost 1-0 this season - in fact bar bolton, we've lost by the odd goal. i really thought after watching us beat the villa in a dire game we were back on track, and yes the problem stems from up front - i personally feel aliadiere or the beast aren't good enough, but i can accept judging them at the end of the season cos they will have a decent run between now and then. Gilberto at centre back? evone knows thats wrong, he proved it against psv but wenger stuck with him - i think that tells us about how he rates big phil at the moment.
But where has all this talk come of people fed up of the way we play and how many aren't good enough to play in the red and white. Granted, there's a few out there that most can't see why they are playing for us, but i've got every faith in mr.wenger and personally if we can address the attacking problem next season we will be a force to be reckoned with (th and rvp and tw will be all fit and raring to go next season) - we used to be a team that couldn't stop shooting and know we cant do it (i guess thats what happens when you lose bobby, db, and freddie doesn't recover from his injury probs in the last two or three seasons), and thats something that worries me, but the way team's play against us now means we have to be tolerant of negative teams such as blackburn playing for a draw (in the fucking fa cup!)
Having said this, i dont think we can hide behiind any excuses next season - no talk of the team being too young, too inexperienced, we have to at least challenge for the league, simple as that. Personally, if people are getting fed up with other posting messages about how they're fed up with the team or being negative etc. dont reply!

yeh brilliant idea, lets boo the team off and and then see the players fuck off because of the ungrateful fans who forget the good days. You wouldnt boo your son off the pitch if he had a bad game on a sunday morning. No you would give him encouragement for the next game.
What did Robert Pires say in his book about us. I cant recall it word for word but it was in the first season when we lost a game and Thierry said to him 'see, even if you lose but try your best, they still wont boo and alwasy get behind you'. Pires was impressed that this was the opposite from the other european leagues.
Players will always try their best because they are professional, there will always be one or two who dont give a shit but on the whole, they all would prefer the winning feeling to the losing one. I am sorry but I feel that message boards are where we vent our anger and not to the players who have fought back to draw a game against a side that soem of us feel we have a divine right to beat.

Don't tell me your serious? If TH remains as bad as this season get rid?? You got to be fucking joking me aint ya? Where have you been all season? Henry has been playing with injuries this season so how can you judge him as being 'bad'? Can't you tell that if we had a fully fit Henry all season our team would have scored an extra 20 goals this season, which would have put us in with a chance of winning something for sure.DDignam wrote: If Th remains as bad next season as this, then get rid. Don't get me started on the Wenger issue. Let me just say 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone'.
And your telling me you'd be happy if the team were booed off? Do you honestly think that booing the players will help? Oh yeah its worked at West Ham hasn't it. Lets just boo the players at every game from now on and see what happens yeah?
I can't believe the shit that people come out with sometimes.
There were supporters who privately expressed the view that, great as he was, Ian Wright was actually bad for the team.... But they still chanted his name. And now there are those (me included!) who, just occasionally, wonder whether an out of form Thierry might not also drag the team down with him. Arsene? I do wonder about some of his decisions, but I've never seriously doubted that Arsene is still "the man". Who ever won a war without making some small mistakes along the way, or losing the odd battle? And, do you think that the Pope has never questioned the virgin birth or the resurrection? Yes, of course he has - and probably on a forum such as this among like minded individuals - but he wouldn't do it in Church. And he is, last time I checked, still a Catholic!! So feel free to question anything from the safety of this site - but don't expect me to be supportive if you do it when you are sitting/ standing next to me at the Grove!!
Re: Issue of spoilt supporters and complaining
Utter crap. I have never booed Arsenal and I never would. If we play bad or lose I get angry but to boo is wrong. What does it achieve? Nothing. You have been spoilt by success and now you have become fickle. I think there are many things that need to change at the moment and I'll criticise in a construtive way. Even Wenger dserves criticism. But you are one fickle supporter. You are probably young so I'll give you some advice.DDignam wrote:As a club we have had a very bad run of it as of late. If you think its bad now you haven't a clue. The 80's before Graham, in the Neil and Howe era was the truly dark days for Arsenal FC. If you had watched us back then you would see that now is just a rebuilding process and not the disaster you are making it out to be! IF we are unsuccessful again next year then maybe we should question Wenger's methods because he is not above criticism but lets wait and see.
True DT Jenkins
Our only joy was beating tottenham, 2-0 at the lane with Roberts blasting a pen into the away end, 4-2 at the lane in the milk cup, Charlie Nicholas always scoring (who put the ball in tottenhams net Charlie Nicholas, York away, being one of only two teams stoke beat when they were in the canon league div 1, losing to watford at home in the fa cup when we should have had a pen to make it 2-2 and they broke and scored, going top in sept and then finishing 10th.
Its a trip down memory lane but in those days I would never have imagined we would achieve what we have, I would have sold my gran to finish above spurs and only thought we would play Madrid, Barca, etc in the Makita Tournament or in a Testimonial for Tommy Caton!!!
