PLayed up front on his own against Stoke in the cup did he not?
now you do know how to read english right?
when did i say that he will cover for song?
I said Sol is helping him become a better footballer
how is that saying JEt should play in the DM position
Wow you are very aggressive and insulting when someone disagree's with you. I sense a troll or wum.
its frustating when people dont read the entire thing and just post random comments
the least you should do is read it properly first and then write a post

agreed he's doing a good job in league one
lets him perform in the championship with the same level and then we will see if he's good enough for arsenal
What are you really trying to say here?
You say JET has learnt from sol, (somehow you know this). You go from talking about vieira to then switching to JET. What am i suppost to think?

calmy explain things - got it although he making really hard right now
Ok you said Vieira is no longer in his prime. I agree but he's not going to play week in and week out Song will play week in and week out and Vieira will the guy who is sitting on the bench. His primary job is to provide cover that's it just like what Sol is doing right now {that's how i made the connection}
now when you have players like Vieira and Sol in your team then they help young players become better players, make them more focused on big games and provide that spark to help them get through tough times. They use their experience to keep the dressing room in check and we can surely use players like these.
A young team need guidance and a manager can only do so much
Vieira singing means that Song doesnt think he's being replaced and it also means that young players now that they have a chance of making it in our team and who better to learn from than Vieira for players like Eastmond, Coquellin and Frimpong.

Okay so what im saying is having patrick vieira on the bench like you say going to make us beat barcelona in the champions league? NO of course he aint.
We need to bring in quality players that can improve the team not the morale of the team. I dont give a shit if song thinks his place is up for grabs. Competition for places is great and needed.

so you think song should be replaced I think he's the most imporved player we have right now and just buying player doesn't help ever
melo was bought for 25 million by juve and he's been the most disappointing player in serie A so a big money transfer doesn't gurrante anything and I can't see a better DM than song except for Essien who is proabably the best
Essien
De rossi
Mascherano
Busquets
Y Toure
Cambiasso
Thats just a to name a few better than song, yes he has improved this season but that hasnt helped us beat any team worth mentioning. Our midfeild was dominated by United, chelsea and barca. We need competition for places, it makes the players try harder. If song thinks he has no competition for his place in teh first team what motivation does he have to keep his place.
Essien has mikel
Busquets has Y Toure
Gattusso has flamini
Lass Diarra has M Diarra

I think you're forgetting this is wenger we are talking about and he knows that we have players like Eastmond, Coquellin and Frimpong coming through our ranks for the defensive midfield position
Eastmond may also be used as right back.
Same goes for Coquelin, who looks great tackler but needs to improve passing.
Frimpong is powerful, but more of an attacking midfielder on what we've seen so far, maybe he can add defensive nous to his game as he gets older?
Nordveit has played well in Germany in the Song position, but is a converted centre back, not a dynamic run all game midfielder.
Would love to see a Flamini type player added this summer.

I remember you saying about Coquelin a couple of years back, although im not a regular reserve team watcher ive seen a few games i havent seen anything from him to suggest he will break into the first team as a right back or DM anytime soon. Song has improved but still would like to see a top class DM signed if im honest

Not sure we need a replacement for Song as such, more so (if we’re gonna keep with the 3-man CM) someone in front of him who has a better defensive side to their game than Denilson/Diaby. An Essien-clone would obviously be ideal, but even someone like Milner would be great (not gonna happen obviously). Basically a genuine box-to-box player who will harry & close the opposition down higher up the pitch when we lose possession.
Song to his credit is still improving even now but even when he doesn’t go wandering forward neglecting his primary duties we still commit too many players forward for 1 man to protect the back 4 on the counter.
Someone said recently teams don’t play a high line against us anymore but I’d say often they do, because we have no real pace at all other than Walcott. The problem is we generally win the back too slow & so far back that they can easily slot back into formation before we get a chance to get at them. One thing Flamini brought to the table was that he won the ball back in more advanced areas & tbh as many goals as we’ve scored this season I don’t think we’ve looked anywhere near as fluent/dangerous going forward as we did 2 years ago, despite having better players - ironically because of what we're missing in a defensive capacity.

I agree. That is my thinking on this too.
Not for the new signing to replace Song, who can continue with his role mainly sitting in front of defence, but to have another player further forward in midfield to get stuck in with decent tackles, and press the opposition.
Ramsey does ok at that and does well with passing, but after Eduardo's experience, who knows when Ramsey will return and how he will play when he does so?
The third midfield slot is Cesc.
If Song is out, then the (hopefully!) new player would be a decent tackler so could stand in for him as the guy guarding the defence, if other players are not yet up to it.
I agree with both of what you wrote a more defensive minded player along side Song sounds good, our defenders are individually good but we dont defend as a team so this might solve a few of those problems
