chamakh update

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

no one will ever be good enough for the number 10 again. we should've never allowed players to use it again after DBs retirement.

The question is......is there someone more deserving though? Arshavin?? I'm not so sure. I suppose we can give it to Villa when he joins.
LOL, 12 months ago I would have said definitely give it to AA, now I think we should save it for Wilshere!

That's definitely one reason.

Also, Liverpool offered more money but then conceded that he would be joining us not them.

Sell Eddy and give him the Nr. 9 shirt? :thedoris:
No-one should ever get the 9 shirt! It's Cursed!

When the squad numbers came in.
Smith - Injured back, retired
Merse - Swapped with Bergkamp, when through gambling and alcohol addictions.
Jeffers - Injury prone "fox in the box" who could not score.
Suker - Hugely disappointing. 1 Season
Eduardo - So much promise but failed to regain form after badly breaking his leg.

You forget Julio Baptista's distinguished year in it, too.

he seems to be scoring every game he's played in recent weeks, looks like a great set piece prospect. i've not really seen much of him apart from his goals, is his hold up play any good?

thinking about Boomer's point, should we knock up a petition to ask the club to scrap the number 9 because everyone who wears it goes to shit?

I remember Eduardo scoring them left right and center, but then he joined us and Arsene Wenger "Arsenalized" him. Reckon same thing will happen to Chamakh. After few training sessions with le boss he'll forget all he needs about shooting at goal.

His hold up play is good, he hassles players when not in possession, his passing is decent, he tries to get past his man when 1v1 with some degree of success and you would be pleased to know his first touch is better than Bendtners'.
What we do need is to have our players improve their crossing as his heading is his best asset but his finishing with his feet can always improve, Ade being the best example.

Am sure you would agree that the croatian league isn't the french one or the premier league. With Chamakh's current ability you should compare him more to Ade when he scored 30 and without the lazy habit.

I remember seeing Eduardo scoring for fun until some fucker broke his leg. Don't think it was anything to do with Wenger.
