Arsenal Sign Centre Back Laurent Koscielny

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm not really disagreeing, as such.

I'm sceptical about the Koscielny signing myself, but until I've seen him play, I just cannot agree that it's a "no brainer" to sign Kjaer over Koscielny. That was my point, really.

Also, you mrntion that Kjaer has 30 caps, but it is for Denmark (where Bendtner is a regular! :? ) so I tend to gloss over things like that.

But, as I said, I'm concerned about Koscielny but until I've seen him play a few times, I can't really form an opinion.

he's doing France's commentary so he will be there til the end, whilst scouting of course.

Could one of the French gunners let us know how this Koscielny's name is pronounced?

For example 'Franksav' is pronounced: (caaaarnt!!!)

I would say it is highly unlikely, German based players tend to stay there and even their foreign imports tend to stay.
I think it is down to the infra-structure of the clubs, the general quality of life in the country and you can now add to that the re-emergence of the Bundesliga as a top force in Europe.
