Moaning Mollies.

Post by corkbarry »

What a shower of whinging moaners ye are. Reading the Everton thread during the game i could not believe some of the negative and anti AW comments that were made up to half time, poor team, wrong tactics, small squad.
Of course it was a different matter when we scored a few goals, lucky enough as two of them were. All of a sudden the mood changed, and it was all congratulations and back slapping againIt is about time that ye realise that we have a quality squad except maybe the backs. There is not one of our players that the rest of the premiership would not gladly take(Swiss Phil included).

Congratulations to my son in law and his team of happy hammers

I thought not because if he had he would understand just how poor our first half performance was and that the comments posted were actually justified.

To be fair, it's all relative mate. Sure all fans go through a range of emotions when watching a game. I have for a long time on here been beating the drum on Eduardo's behalf so you can imagine I was well pleased after the whistle went, two poachers goals at a tough place like Goodison, happy days.

Before a ball was kicked I would have settled for the draw but upon hearing the fantastic news that Man Scum had been thumped I was hoping we could capitalise and when we did in some style I was over the moon.

We all want the Gunners to do well, don't be too sore on us friend.

WISE WORDS FROM A VERY WISE MAN. 8)

I'D UNDERSTAND THE PESSIMISM IF WE WERE STRUGGLING AROUND OR BELOW THE TOP FOUR, AS MANY OF US FEARED AT THE START OF THE SEASON.

I KNOW THAT MOST OF IT IS BORNE OUT OF GENUINE LOVE FOR THE CLUB AND A DESPARATE DESIRE TO SEE US SUCCEED. YET, AS CORKBARRY POINTS OUT, SOME OF IT REALLY IS NIT-PICKING AND TOTALLY UNWARRANTED.

EVEN THOUGH I WAS ONE OF THOSE SUMMER WORRIERS, WE'VE MADE AN UNBELIEVEABLE START THAT HAS MADE ME BEGIN TO BELIEVE THAT WE MIGHT JUST BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL!!

ONE MORE THOUGHT: AS MAN UNITED HAVE PROVEN A COUPLE OF TIMES SO FAR THIS SEASON, SPENDING £70MILLION TO STRENGTHEN YOUR SQUAD DOESN'T NECCESSARILY PROTECT YOU FROM THE ODD POOR PERFORMANCE OR SHOCK DEFEAT!

IMAGINE HOW MUCH THEIR FANS ARE MOANING ON THE VARIOUS MAN UTD SITES - AND THEY, UNLIKE ARSENAL, WERE EXPECTED BY ALL AND SUNDRY TO WIN THE TITLE!!

ULTIMATELY WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAY IS THAT THINGS ARE NEVER AS GOOD OR AS BAD AS WE MIGHT SOMETIMES MAKE OUT. SO THE MESSAGE TO THE PESSIMISTS AND THE ROSE-TINTED GLASSES WEARERS IS VERY MUCH THE SAME: LET'S HAVE A LITTLE MORE PERSPECTIVE GUYS. 8)

IHH I like you and usually tend to agree with your posts but on this one I disagree. Why should we as fans pretend to have been satisfied with what was clearly a below standard performance in the first half?

Those of us that watched it on TV and were logged on at the same time posted comments, of which one forum member has been grateful as they were unable to see the game.

Those comments were posted as the events unfolded and yes looking back after the result was known, it is easy to mock them.

Go back to June 21st and some people actually thought Henry would stay at the club, looking back those posts seem ridiculous now but at the time were written with heart felt belief.

Lets not kill off what makes this forum stand head and shoulders above the rest.

WAYNO,

IT'S NOT THAT BIT OF CORKBARRY'S POST WITH WHICH I WAS AGREEING. I CAN WELL UNDERSTAND THE VARYING EMOTIONS THAT FLOW WHILST WATCHING THE GAME AND TRUST ME, I WAS SHOUTING AT MY TV AS LOUD AS ANYONE AT OUR BELOW PAR 1ST HALF PERFORMANCE.

IT WAS THE PART ABOUT TOO MANY PEOPLE BE QUICK TO MOAN AFTER ANY SLIGHT SET-BACK THAT I WAS ALLUDING TO. BLOODY HELL, WE HAD PEOPLE MOANING AFTER WE ONLY DREW AT LIVERPOOL, AGAINST MAN UTD AND AT PORTSMOUTH - LIKE THEY WERE EASY GAMES AND AS IF WE'VE GOT A GOD GIVEN RIGHT TO BEAT THESE TEAMS JUST BECAUSE WE'RE THE ARSENAL!!

AS YOU KNOW, I WAS ONE OF THE PESSIMISTS/REALISTS DURING THE SUMMER WHO WAS GENUINELY WORRIED ABOUT OUR RETAINING A TOP FOUR PLACE, NEVER MIND ANY TITLE PROSPECTS, WITHOUT HENRY OR A SUITABLE WORLD CLASS REPLACEMENT. YET, YOU KNOW WHAT, THINGS HAVE SO FAR TURNED OUT MUCH BETTER THAN WE COULD HAVE HOPED OR EVEN DREAMT (UNLESS YOU'RE SMOOTHY   ). IT'S ABOUT TIME WE ENJOYED IT RATHER THAN TRYING TO FIND FAULTS OR WORRYING ALL THE TIME.

I REITERATE MY POINT FROM THE PREVIOUS POST: WE ALL HAVE TO LEARN TO KEEP A SENSE OF PERSPECTIVE!!

Bloody right. We all have our quibbles (mine are picking Almunia over Lehmann and the lack of a left sided option) but the squad's performance this season has been outstanding. Without making any assumptions about getting silverware this year, look back at any successful season and you'll find equivalent games to the Portsmouth result etc (and worse).

Yes, we should criticise when the team play badly or Wenger makes poor choices but some of the responses post-Pompey were ridiculous, and looked like they belonged on a Spurs forum, not one of the team that has led the league for most of the season.

I know I'm a bit of a Wenger loyalist compared with some, but with his record and what's happened this season so far, I don't get those who slag him off, as opposed to criticise. The man is a footballing genius who seems to get better as the years go by.

Even with a poor first half performance, the Everton result underlines IHH's point, that a bit of perspective is needed.

This third side of Wenger's probably could do with a bit of strengthening, and I still worry about United and Chelsea and even Liverpool, but 14 points out of 21 in a very tough December, with injuries and bad form, and still being top, is pretty good stuff.

So just enjoy things sometimes!

I dont have Rose tinted glasses IHH, I just dont target one player for mistakes. We are TOP of the league and according to many Gooners on here " Adebayors crap Almunia is useless" damn I've even seen people target Hleb, Flamini and Clichy for this "Rubbish first half of the season"
Some people aint easy to please, I am thats all
