I bet he is brilliant for the scum and we're going to end up looking very silly for letting him go prematurely. This is our first choice central defender for the last few seasons, and we've let him go to spurs for less wages and a one year deal because again we have dilly-dallied like we did with Flamini and now we're woefully short in skill and experience in that area.

Perhaps, but I think we needed a change at the back, and that wasn't going to be Vermaelen.
Gallas is 33 and injury prone. I'm not sad to see him go, and hopefully Koscielny and Vermaelen can form a decent partnership - time will tell.
Gallas wouldn't have stayed to be a backup player, so maybe the choice the club had was either stick with Gallas as first choice (knowing he's injury prone) or find someone else.
Anyway, far to early to judge Koscielny, but Gallas is old news now. Sp*rs have themselves a decent player, which is annoying, but that's life.

did wenger not offer him a one year contract with less wages, and he turned it down because he wanted a 2 year deal and a pay rise
so care to explain how we have dilly dallied like we did with flamini.
he was offered 1 year contract and said no so fuck him and fuck spurs

Given that he's accepted one year and same wages at spurs, i can only assume that arsenal werent bothered about him leaving which i think is a mistake.
Wenger said yesterday he was preoccupied with signing Kos so in the meantime Gallas looked elsewhere. If you've had a good season, are a quality experienced player in a team of young half-arsed players and you're offered worse terms and a pay cut while your manager shops around, why would you feel wanted? I believe Wenger thought he'd get Kos with Campbell for back up and neglected to see that letting gallas go could be risky.
Probably a bit of pride from Gallas, BT? He refused the deal cos he was convinced that he could go abroad and get exactly what he wanted. I guess he couldn't, and coming back to Arsene with his tail between his legs, and after the Kos sogning, would be too much for Gallas' pride.
Now Wenger has all his trust in Vermaelen, Koscielny, Djourou and Song - which firstly doesn't exactly sound like he'll pull up any trees to get another CB and secondly, leaves us basically with Vermaelen plus the new unknow, the brittle and frankly average Djourou, and Song who is adequate there but if asked to do a job there will leave another position weaker.
Definitely an element of pride and short sightedness on gallas and his agent's part but people seem to want a loyalty from Gallas that Arsenal werent showing him. I'm just a bit frustrated by the bizarre choice to hang on to some players like Djourou, Diaby, Denilson, Almunia etc but discard a player that was doing a decent job as first team defender for the sake of matching his salary/ giving him two years like Sylvestre. I think Wenger was banking on Sol staying so Gallas wasnt a priority and i just have a feeling it might come back to haunt us.
He always said he'll leave at the end of his contract since he's been stripped of the captaincy. It wasn't Arsenal choice, even though Arsenal wasn't keen to raise his wage and give him more than 1 year (because he didn't deserve it), it was Gallas choice to leave our great Club.
Trust me, he wont play a full season, he's injury prone. This summer he was a laughing stock with his injuries in France, every day he had a new one before the WC. And he didn't have any preparation so far, so I don't know how it could be different at Tottenham. And his attitude has been a constant problem since the start of his career. I don't think we should regret him.

Absolutely - the whole Cole thing was as much a mis-understanding as it was the Board not being willing to meet his wage request. But Had they simply let him negotiate back instead of offering a final "take it or leave it" offer and counting on him to sign it out of loyalty to the the club we might have avoided all that embarassment and still have a n even stronger side.
I find it very troubling how supporters expect more loyalty from everyone form the Board in every instance and are ready to accept whatever the Board does - because they are so "loyal" to Arsenal. If that is the case how come almost every decisioon they make benefits them personally more than it does the club? If that's the case why have they clearly sought to sell their shares and withdraw from Arsenal as they do?
I'll gladly give credit to our Board for the things it does right but those who willfully ignore really are going to have to look in the mirror and ask themselves some really tough questions down the line if things don't work out.

Trust me - We're MUCH better off without that twat.
We'll concede less this season and our team spirit is already looking to have improved as a result of his departure I bet.
We've gotten rid of a cancer and we're looking more united now. Besides, Vermaelen shits all over him and so does Koscielny (I hope). We'll sign one more CB as well and I bet he'll have a better season than Gallas.
Gallas leaving is only a positive for this club, and if it's for the scumbags down the road then even better.
