NAME AN ARSENAL LEGEND

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

BLOODY HELL. DON'T PEOPLE LOOK AT THE OTHER POSTS BEFORE OFFERING THEIR SUGGESTIONS?   WE HAVE HAD THE SAME PLAYERS MENTIONED 2 OR 3 TIMES. WE CAN'T BE THAT HARD UP FOR LEGENDS CAN WE?

I SUPPOSE WE SHOULD NOMINATE SIR HENRY NORRIS - DESPITE HIS CHEQUERED PAST - FOR WITHOUT HIM THERE PROBABLY WOULDN'T STILL BE AN ARSENAL FOR US ALL TO FOLLOW. 8)

And your previous nomination, George Graham, was a man of honour?

I don't share your opinion on this one augie. O'Leary definately holds Legend status in my eyes.

Seeing as my opinion of o'leary has annoyed some I feel I should respond- GG was THE man that broke the scouse monopoly of english football, yes he got his hand caught in the cookie jar but that he wasnt the only one at that time is well known(think ferguscum for starters) and he was the only manager punished. In my opinion he should, after all the years of loyal service as player and manager, been given the chance to resign instead of being sacked but our outstanding board chose the later option and despite that he has NEVER ever said a bad word about the club and truely is a man that has Arsenal in his veins.

Contrast that to o'leary who as manager of dirty leeds felt he had an open season to have a go at us in the media. He is a man that is well known(in Ireland anyway) as being a climber - he would leave someone who he is conversing with if somebody more important came into the room so that shows the moral backbone of the man. The climbing bit I could just about accept but never ever have a pop at our club after serving as a player for so long

augie your opinion has not annoyed me, I simply do not share it. We were asked to name players whom we felt had achieved legend status, I believed this to relate to their playing careers with our club, not life afterwards. O'Leary was a loyal servant with a club career which spanned 19 years and 722 games, this feat is unsurpassed, this is why in my opinion he is a Legend.
