The Red / Silver Membership Dynamic

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm in the same situation as the original poster. I do get frustrated that in theory a silver member can not go to any game, then choose the biggest game and have priority, but what can you do. If I'd been a member 10 years ago and was told that a new member would have priority because they can afford to go to more games id be just as annoyed. As Tony Saunders said, you can't please everybody. I think the current system, as frustrating as it can be, is as fair as it will get.
There are have only been 5 home games that I couldn't get tickets for as a red member since we moved, so although I would love to see the big games (and spurs in the league), I can't really complain too much.

if your stuck you might do worse then join a supporters club, i know we get offered tickets for every game but cant go to all and to keep our allocation high we try and make 5-6 trips a year and bring as many people over as possible,

and theres 26 of us over next wdk

Reading this thread has got me thinking...Oh, my head hurts :?

Could an existing silver member sell his silver membership on to another supporter for a small profit  We could start a thread for anyone wanting to sell. I know a mate of mine who got married and another of our guys took up his membership by just changing the address to his own but kept the same name.

Money always talks.....

Fair enough

However I know a few guys that used to travel over to games with me who just let their silver member status just lapse for one reason or another (getting married, having kids, changing cars etc...) and I thought that instead of that membership going down the pan it would be a lot better for a genuine fan to get the good of it.

Don't want to land the forum in the shit.

I was with the ticket registration scheme for a few years and got an automatic silver membership but due to cost among other things I don't get to as many games as I would like being as I am a Green Gooner :(

i have to agree, the membership sysetm does seem unfair. As a junior gunner, next year i automatically get upgraded to silver, whereas many red members will still be stuck on the waiting list :(

Hi Im new here. Found the site as was trying to use the ticket exchange for first time and just found it impossible to use. Looked up to see how others found it and i got to this forum. That is for another thread.

So what age do you go from a Junior Gunner to a silver member. As a red member who probably wont go to silver for some time was wondering if it might make sense to sign up my brothers son as a JG and then when he comes of age he would already be a silver member. I know that prevents a red member becoming a silver but what are you going to do.

If your a silver member can you buy tickets at same time for other members even if they are only red members.

Cheers all and hope to spend a bit more time here in the weeks ahead.

No, you can only buy one ticket per membership, so if you are a silver and someone else is a red you can only buy yours, or wait until they go on sale to red members and get both

I think theres something called the 'Cannon Club' in between the 2 stages, which is between the ages 16-18.
Also I dont think its unfair that JG's get offered a silver membership instead of a Red.
Because how unfair would it be if someone whod been a JG since they were 5 or something gets to the age of 17 and is told they now have to wait 10 years to become a silver member.

From arsenal.com
'The Cannon Club (Silver) is a membership scheme for 17 and 18 year olds who were members of the Junior Gunners during the previous season or two. Each member can continue to purchase tickets in our Family Enclosure at a reduced rate. Cannon Club members are entitled to purchase tickets in the Family Enclosure for themselves alone, as part of a group which includes a Junior Gunner member or with a Senior Citizen member. Subject to availability, tickets go on sale two calendar months before a fixture'

Looks like i was wrong, there is a cannon club
